1. After I watched the video, the performance-based assessment in the field of
chemistry, where the teachers are trying to discuss the importance of performance- based evaluation. According to them they consider that performance-based evaluation is an idea in which the children's activities or assignments are relevant. This type of evaluation encourages students' use of higher-order thinking skills. The students should use their imaginations to form a new ideas in the information they gathered. In addition they can use problem-solving skills to apply critical thinking skills across the curriculum and into real-world situations. 2. The advantages of observed in the chemistry class. Based on what I've seen in this video, the teacher who teaches the chemistry, they let their students to explore and observes what they are doing. So by doing this, it is easily to determine the strengths and weaknesses of their students. The teacher can be quickly get a data about to their students so they know what to need to develop for their students as soon it will be happen. The role of observer is to pay attention to the students on how they act and speak during their class. 3. Based on the tasks that the teacher assigns to their students in the field of chemistry as part of a performance-based assessment, he has created clear rubrics for his students to see how their teacher would evaluate them. The first thing he did was show his class a rubric, and he explained that research projects have various proponents that the instructor may use to score them. So the students must create a model of the compound for the first evaluation. This will determine how well they demonstrate relevance to their model's application. The video components are the second part of their compound; here is how they created it. Finally, rather than research and presentation, it is preferable to have a debate so that the teacher can observe how students think, construct compound models, and present their opinions in front of others. The debate, according to the chemistry teacher, is the most effective way for him to see his students face to face. Of course, the teacher's feedback should not be overlooked when criticizing the child; as seen in the video, the chemistry teacher makes notes on the rubric based on the remarks, organization of the students' ideas and thoughts, or the things that define the rubrics. This was done to show that he had written his observations about the child's performance in the rubric itself.
4. Here in the Philippines we need to providing activities such as performance-based
assessment for students. We need placed rubrics or set a standards that aimed a performance task that children will do in order to give suitable assessment and a positive outcome for increasing their competence in the actual world. For example, As a future teacher of Physical education I will give a performance task to my students about the basic steps in folkdance for this quarter. If I going to this activity I will provide a instructional materials such as videos and ppt that related to the basic folk dance. Next I will do is to set a rubics all about in this performance and I will explain to them the content of rubics. I will use an analytic rubics where it is specifc and they will easily to understand. So my students know where I took their grades. After I discussed to them what performance task they will do and to present to them the rubics, I will gave them an enough time to do this and also to explore and develop the basic skills in folkdance. Then when it was time for their to perform, I will observ them and to see if they doing right in their task. I will graded them based on the rubics that I given them. And I will take notes for them to provide a feedback or comments to them. If they done to their performance task I will give them the results of their performance task so they will know if they do is good or if they have to improve more in their performance so in this case they have an idea about what they will do next time.
