First Aid Education

INTRODUCTION

Linda Hepler from Healthline.com says that at any moment, you or someone around you could experience
an injury or illness. Using basic first aid, you may be able to stop a minor mishap from getting worse. In the
case of a serious medical emergency, you may even save a life.

That’s why it’s so important to learn basic first aid skills. To build on the information you learn here,
considering taking a first aid course.

Furthermore, she added that first aid happens is when you provide basic medical care to someone
experiencing a sudden injury or illness. In some cases, first aid consists of the initial support provided to
someone in the middle of a medical emergency. This support might help them survive until professional help
arrives. In other cases, first aid consists of the care provided to someone with a minor injury.

This lesson will guide you on the basic information about first aid that will help you and your family
saves lives in your home and your community.

ACTIVITY 2. BANDAGING TECHNIQUES:

Arrange the steps in each kind of bandaging. Write the numbers according to its arrangement logically.

Pull back and cross-over at the back, tucking

cravat over the compress covering the cheek or the
ear.
2. Tie them down over the compress
3. Cross the ends at the opposite side.
4. Carry one end over the top of the head and the
other under the chin.
5. Bring the short end back around the forehead and
the long end around the back of the head.

CRAVAT BANDAGE FOR THE CHEEK AND EARS:_____, _____, _____, _____, _____
1. Lay center of the first cravat over top of head
with the front end falling over uninjured eye.
2. Bring ends of first cravat back over top of
head, tying there and pulling second cravat up
and away form uninjured eye.
3. Bring second cravat around head, over eyes,

1. Bring ends up and across each other in


overlapping spiral turns. Continue one end
up arm and the other end down forearm.

2. Bring ends to front of elbow and tie.


3. Bend arm at elbow and place center of
cravat at point of elbow

1. Cross over on top/pull ends to opposite sides.


2. Start on top of the knees.
3. Secure with a square knot under the knee
4. Cross over and twist 2-3 times under the knee.

Begin ascending turns with upper end and


descending turns with lower end, with each turn
covering two-third of preceding turn until dressing
is covered.
Place center of cravat over the dressing
3. Terminate by tying both ends in square knot.
