1. Introduction
This document will introduce the Safety Equipment Review Committee (SERC) roles and
responsibilities in VCSQSPL. As well as identify the Personnel Protective equipment evaluated and
approved brands/models by SERC that can be used in VCSQSPL.

2. Aims & Objectives


The main objective of this document is to centralize all the approved Personnel Protective
equipment’s brands/models and minimum specifications in one document. As well as, to ensure
that all Personnel Protective equipment purchased by users, shall meet the approved VCSQSPL
minimum specifications and standards.

3. Safety Equipment Review Committee (SERC)

The SERC is formed & approved by the Director mainly to increase the number of approved brands
and models of Personnel Protective equipment’s that can be used in VCSQSPL, and by default
increase the number of suppliers providing these brands to promote competitive bidding as well as
giving the chance for different suppliers to provide their best products in the market.

5) PERSONNEL PROTECTIVE APPAREL & EQUIPMENT’S GUIDELINES


The purpose of personal protective equipment (PPE), is to protect employees and visitors from
occupational hazards within the workplace. It is our goal to use engineering controls as the primary
method for protecting employees. However, when additional protection is necessary, employees will
wear PPE. The scope of this program includes PPE for eye, face, head, foot, hand and fall protection and
will remain fluid based on requirements. So far as it is reasonably practicable our workforce will be
involved in the selection process of the PPE equipment to ensure maximum personal comfort. PPE will be
selected on its suitability for its intended use, effectiveness, comfort level and durability.

All employees have a duty to: -


• Take reasonable steps to ensure that they do not place themselves or others at risk of harm.

• Co-operate fully in complying with any procedures that we may introduce as a measure to protect the
safety and well-being of our staff and visitors.

• Report equipment damage to the HoD and ensure a replacement is arranged.

• Conduct inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of PPE at intervals according to the manufacturer’s
instructions.

• PPE is issued in order to assist employees fulfil their responsibilities and should not be distributed or
used outside of the work place.

• Employees are responsible to maintain PPE in good conditions and to wear them whenever necessary.

• PPE must be returned to the HSED at Project site, upon Job completion / Termination.

• Do not use damaged or defective equipment. Individuals with questions should address them to the
HSE department
