1. What is a community?

A community is a group of people who share something in common.

You can define a community by the shared attributes of the people in it
and/or by the strength of the connections among them. You need a
bunch of people who are alike in some way, who feel some sense of
belonging or interpersonal connection. A community is a social group
whose members have something in common, such as a shared
government, geographic location, culture, or heritage. Community can
also refer to the physical location where such a group lives.

2. What are some rules and laws that you and other citizens have to
follow in your community?

Rules are important as families and citizens have to live their lives in a
happy but safe state. Some aspects of why rules are important are: to
maintain civil behavior, be organized, more harmony in the community.
Even under these aspects, there are more branches of why rules are
important.

GUIDELINES:

1. Relationships > followers

Building a community is about building relationships. People who just

follow you won’t give you any indication of how relevant you are.
The best communities are based on strong relationships. They grow
both quantity and quality of relationships that people have between
each other.

2. Communities need leaders, not managers

To start a community, you need authority in your field. You can’t hire
someone to take this over for you. Your community will thrive on
leadership. Have a clear vision of where you want to go and inspire
people to join you on your journey.

3. Participation is key

It’s not a community if people can’t

participate. Participation means: creating
something together, sharing knowledge,
contributing to a common goal. Your job is to design the
framework for people to get involved. Once that’s clear,
your community is ready to roll.
5. Provide value first

The people out there won’t magically find you and become engaged
members of your community. You need to show first
what it’s all about. Do something to provide value for
the people you care about and people will show up.

6. Trust is the most valuable good you can achieve

Trust is the most important factor in creating a

community of trust.

7. Start small (1000 fans)

The same counts for your community. Focus on the people to whom
your vision really matters. Invest in every single person. The foundation
you build in the beginning will carry you a long way into the future.

8. Community = culture

Treat your community like a culture, with beliefs, norms and rituals that
are bigger than yourself, and it will save you a lot of headaches.

9. Celebrate success

Be generous in what you give and thankful in what

you receive to honor those who make it all happen.
Celebrate your achievements and keep people
motivated.

10. Don’t mess it up

Leading a community creates meaning in

people's lives and you have a responsibility to
not mess it up.

Being in a society, you have the responsibility of following some

etiquette. These, when followed, makes you a better person as viewed
by the society and also help you develop some self-discipline as well.

When you are in a group or being associated with a group, you will
carry some responsibilities such as:

• Being polite and using words such as Please, Sorry and Thank you
will please the people around you and makes a good impression.
• Behaving gently and speaking in a normal voice but not loudly.
• Using your own things and sticking to your boundaries.
• Asking for permission, if you have to use other's things.
• Keeping yourself and your surroundings clean and tidy.
• Following the rules that imply at certain places.

When you are at someone’s place, you certainly have some basic
responsibilities such as:

• Seeking permission before using their things.

• Replacing the things used, like re-filling used diesel in a car etc.
• Apologizing for any inconvenience caused.
• Following some basic things like making your bed and not
littering.
• Being in your limits and not interfering with all their personal
issues.

When you are being alone, but in a public place like on a road, in
traffic or in a park. You are bound to some social rules such as:

• Never litter the place. Use dustbins.

• Don’t disturb others unnecessarily.
• While driving doesn't honk without need.

3. How can you be a good citizen?

A good citizen must live in peace and

harmony with his neighbours and fellow
citizens. He must respect the institutions
of his country. A good citizen must
always respect the laws of the state and
should have no patience with criminals
and anti-social elements. He must be
vigilant against the enemies of the
country.

Treat others with consideration and

regard, respect another person's point of
view. Responsibility. Be accountable for one's own actions, resolve
differences in constructive, non-violent and peaceful ways, contribute
to society and to civic life, take care of the environment.

But being a good citizen goes beyond the black and white of politics. It
doesn’t matter which side of the political spectrum you’re on. What
matters is how you make this country a better place to live in.

If you don’t know where to start, here are some suggestions on how
to be a good citizen:

1. Be Patriotic

Patriotism is an important quality of a good citizen, as they want the

best for their country and make sacrifices to achieve it.

2. Give Back to the Community

Give back to your community by donating to charities and volunteering

in non-profit organizations to help the poor and sick, and start a
fundraising activity to make other people's lives better.

3. Be a Productive Member of Society

A productive member of society is someone who makes a positive

contribution to the country, making them a good citizen.

4. Take Part in Social Issues

Being a good citizen means taking part in social issues, even if they
don't directly affect you.

5. Vote

Voting is an important way to show your country that you care and make
a difference.

6. Mentor Someone

Sharing knowledge is a great gift to your country, so go ahead and

mentor someone or offer after-school teaching and internship
opportunities.

7. Cultivate Your Skills and Talents

Your talents and skills are essential for nation-building and bringing
honor to the country.

8. Keep Your Home in Order

The family is the basic unit of society and the home is where someone’s
values and beliefs are formed. Thus, keeping your home in order is
already making a positive contribution to society.

9. Follow the Law

The law might be harsh or unfair at times but it is the law. And it’s your
duty as a citizen to follow them and encourage others to do so.

10. Treat Others With Respect

Being a good citizen means treating everyone with respect no matter

who they are or where they come from. Remember that how you treat
others reflects the kind of society you were brought up in.

11. Stand up to Injustice

Every day, millions of people are experiencing injustice all over the
world. Yet, only very few have the courage to stand up against it. But
remember that as long as most of us are turning a blind eye to the
injustices happening around us, there can be no real change. Besides,
it’s our duty as citizens to defend those who cannot fight for
themselves.

12. Conserve Resources

A country’s natural resources are its greatest assets. That’s why doing
your part in conserving those resources is already a service to your
country. Besides, resources like water, in particular, are vital to people’s
survival. You may not think much about not turning the faucet off or
not fixing a leaking pipe but in some areas, all that wasted water can
already cost a life.

13. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Just like conserving resources, a good citizen should practice the three
R’s: reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Reducing your waste keeps the landfill from overflowing with trash. It
also keeps potentially toxic materials from rivers, streams, oceans, and
waterways. While reusing and recycling materials saves money and
resources. It helps your country save on waste disposal costs. Plus, it
ensures that raw materials are turned into new products reducing the
need for virgin materials and conserving the country’s resources.

14. Pay Your Taxes

This goes without saying. Paying taxes is an obligation for every

income-earning citizen. And if you want to be a good citizen, you must
pay your taxes diligently. Your taxes are used to build roads and
bridges, fund schools, and pay the military. If you don’t pay your taxes,
how will the government do all those?

Being a good citizen may not be that easy but it’s not that hard either.
All you need is a little bit of selflessness and a whole lot of love for your
country and its people. But at the end of the day, it still boils down to
your choices. So make sure to choose to be a good citizen every single
day.

4. Name some responsibilities that you should have in the

community.

Working for the community, such as volunteering, giving blood

donations, and working at a food bank or animal shelter. Supporting
issues that affect society, such as advocating political or social issues
that can help other for example, advocating for child labor laws,
purchasing fair trade products, recycling.

RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR BETTER COMMUNITIES:

Policy

Good associations preserve the character of their communities, protect

property values, and meet the expectations of property owners and
homeowners. They also cultivate a sense of community, promote active
homeowner involvement, and create a culture of informed consensus.

Homeowners have the responsibility to:

1. Read and comply with the governing documents of the

community.
2. Maintain their property according to established standards.
3. Treat association leaders honestly and with respect.
4. Vote in community elections and on other issues.
5. Pay association assessments and charges on time.
6. Contact association leaders or managers, if necessary, to discuss
financial obligations and alternative payment arrangements.
7. Request reconsideration of material decisions that personally
affect them.
8. Provide current contact information to association leaders or
managers to help ensure they receive information from the
community.
9. Ensure that those who reside on their property (e.g., tenants,
relatives and friends) adhere to all rules and regulations.

Our community, located in Arzadon St. Subdivision, Barangay

Domanpot Asingan Pangasinan.

Our community is peaceful and quiet just like our neighboring barangay
and streets. Our community promote a sense of self-discovery and
group connection, encourage members to express their beliefs and
values and build relationships with others. Our community is also the
same to our neighboring community, we continue to maintain property
according to established standards. Treat association leaders honestly
and with respect. Vote in community elections and on other issues.

5. How do you compare your community to other types of

communities?

I can compare our community to the other types of communities by

telling whether what type of communities if it is rural, urban, and
suburban. Asingan, Pangasinan is also considered a city, but we are
more like a Province type of Area specially in our Barangay/Community.
So, we live in a Rural area, or maybe a little bit Sub-urban due to mixes
in our society where there are infinite Land areas for farming,
commercial spaces and a simple life away from the city. I can also
compare our community by our differences in Culture, Religion and
Social Beliefs.

The three types of communities are rural, urban, and suburban.

1. Rural
Rural communities are cheaper to live in, but
mostly they are just different. If you like
wide open spaces, lots of nature, and no
neighbors, they are a good choice for you

2. Urban

Urban communities are areas

where people live in close
proximity and have access to all
the latest and greatest things,
such as night life, things to do,
and higher-paying jobs. They
also have lots of housing
options, such as apartments and
high-rise buildings, as well as
schooling options for both
private and public education.
Most homes don't have an outdoor space, but there are usually lots of
community parks and gardens available. Urban areas are often more
convenient to live in due to their convenience and access to good jobs,
while rural areas are more spread out and harder to get.

3. Suburban

The suburban areas are the mix of

the urban and rural. With a
suburban area, you are going to
get many of the same
conveniences a city has. Living in
a suburban area offers both the
best of both worlds, but there are
downsides, such as long commute
times and limited access to jobs.

6. What did you learn about your community?

What did I learn about my community? I learn to live a simple life. I

embrace the simplicity and calmness in my area. The Land forms,
Nature and peacefulness help me to cope up with the challenges I faced
in my life. I also learn to socialized and help other people who was in
need. I learn to be more aware of my surroundings.

Just like in our current state or issue, we are newly relocated here in our
street and we learn to socialize and make neighboring friends recently.
We learn the dos and don’ts in the area. Rules and Regulations that are
implemented and practicing to be more a good citizen to others.
