GLOBALIZATION – CLASS LEARNINGS

Globalization is the process and state wherein there is interconnectedness between people,
organizations and countries. To people and the environment, it brought many advantages and
disadvantages. It is advantageous for us as things became easier, people become more efficient,
and life gets better. On the other hand, it is also disadvantageous as human and natural resources
are exploited. Thus, we developed dependence towards technology and other people. In the real
world, many are pushed back and neglected because of globalization. Hence, globalization is unjust
for many people sometimes or most of the times. For example, in the 19 th century, many wanted to
have colonies as they acknowledged the presence of other countries. It is unfair for the colonized
ones as many lost their livelihood, families and even their country. In the present times, it is also
unfair as many could not keep up due to varying financial capabilities

From our class discussions, I learned that globalization does not depend on just a single
person or country. So, I believe that we can make globalization more just. Regarding inventions and
innovations, we can negotiate with affected parties. For example, if CCTVs will be managed by a
software that analyzes the videos, security labor force would be gravely affected. Thus, both sides
must talk and decide to meet in the middle so that no one will be left behind. Concerning people with
disabilities, we can make globalization more just by ensuring that institutions and places are safe
and accommodating towards them. For example, as bullet trains increase in number, the
transportation agencies may make escalators or stairs where people on wheelchairs can get on. On
a global scale, I believe that we can make globalization more just if developed countries can impart
knowledge to developing countries. Thus, as we help each other slowly, we must see that no one is
left behind. Let us help our elders, our friends and ourselves to achieve a fair and globalized world.
