INQUIRY PROPOSAL PEER GRADE FORM

**Remember, your classmates may end up being the difference between a score of 2 and 3… please
treat these peer grades with the seriousness they deserve.

2) Identify the scope of the research question. Is this a feasible scope? Why or why not?

3) Do you foresee any other issues with the feasibility of this research project? Please be specific as to
why or why not. (are resources available, would an expert advisor be needed, etc.)

4) What are your thoughts about the significance of this research project? Has the author clearly
identified those parties that would benefit from the findings of their research? Can you think of any
other groups that might be interested?

5) Would you classify this project’s purpose as create, explain, or explore? Remember that explaining
requires variables to be clearly identified.

6) Would you classify this project as experimental or non-experimental? Why?

7) Would you classify the data collect as qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods? Support your
answer with information from the proposal.

8) Give the last three questions, are the methods aligned with the purpose of the project? Explain.

10) What variables is the author measuring? Can you clearly identify a dependent and independent
variable? Is it appropriate to identify each for this research question?

11) Are there any other resources/equipment you feel the author may be able to utilized to better answer
his or her research question? List them, if appropriate.

12) Do you feel that the research question addresses a “gap in knowledge” pertaining to the topic in
question? Realize you have not done background research, so your response will be based on
intuition only.

13) List the safe and ethical practices identify in the proposal. Are there anymore that should be
indicated? List them, if necessary.

14) Please add at least ONE additional challenge you feel the author may encounter during his or her
research project.

15) Why would this research project need or not need IRB approval?

16) In regards to the inquiry proposal, identify TWO strengths and ONE weakness. Please explain all
three aspects identified.
