An intimate session with Engr. Gbenga Dairo
Q: Sir, in trying to establish generational differences like you said, during your time, you
were able to secure a job even before graduation. Considering the times we are in now,
the current educational terrain, what kind of advice would you give to undergraduates
who are going through the present educational system but still want to have some kind of
financial stability for themselves after graduation? What would you like to tell them?
A: The first thing I would like to say is the advice would start before you begin your
undergraduate studies. You've got to choose a profession or an endeavor of study that
you have interest and a passion for. Everything in our world these days is all about passion
and interest and not about potential for wealth. You may see that elsewhere but do what
you enjoy doing. It is out of passion that other rewards begin to flow in. Always make sure
you have genuine interest for whatever you are studying. If you attend an Ivy League
college overseas, you'd always find employers knocking at your door, but that isn't the
case here. It's your passion that will feed you, lead you to the right places, be it business,
entrepreneurial, activity or even in employment. That's what drives our current system.

KB NEWS
In March 2020, when the pandemic broke out, different organizations and businesses sought
alternatives to see to the smooth running of their various activities amidst the situation on ground.
The need to adopt digital methods such as videoconferencing and the likes, was on the rise and
different digital platforms that could offer such services became favorites; some of which include,
Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.
The KB KLUB, being an organization that is solely run by students, has been affected by the
ongoing ASUU strike, however its activities have been kept running by her members. One of the
core attributes possessed by members of the Klub is diligence, and that is what has been the
bedrock of the Klub in these trying times. 95% of the Klub's meetings have been moved online in
order to keep track with updates across various committees, while important meetings are held
physically, once every month, to to cover up loopholes in our planning process and to keep the
brotherhood bond alive.
There are shortcomings to this end however, the pace at which actions are being taken with
regards to putting plans in place for upcoming events, has visibly decreased. Dates for KLUB
events which are hugely depended upon students’ participation, like the academic and health-
tech conference, STACK REFORM and the sports festival, KB KUP, remain tentative as the strike
lingers.

As a result, Health Management Organizations (HMOs) were not left out from
our visit. Some of the companies visited include Hygeia HMO, Avon HMO,
Standard Chartered Bank, AfyaCare, and Health Tracka, to name a few.
Prior to these visits, proposals were mailed to inform them of the upcoming
event, and our visits served as a follow-up to help them better grasp the
event's purpose; what would be required of their partnership, and how they
could participate.
In conclusion, the Klub was well welcomed, and we had productive discussions
with key players from many of these companies.
