Introductory Message
Welcome!
The Self-Learning Package for Senior High School is a developed to guide you
our dear learners to meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum.
The Self-Learning Package is developed to help you, dear learner, in your needs
to continue learning even if you are not in school. This learning material aims to
primarily provide you with meaningful and engaging activities for independent
learning. Being an active learner, carefully read and understand to follow the
instructions given.
REMEMBER ….
To answer the given exercises, questions and assessment, USE your Activity
Notebook or Answer Sheet. When you are DONE, wait for the teacher/volunteer to
collect your activity notebook/ answer sheet.

Ready to Launch!
Hello, it’s a brand new day for another learning researchers! After you had
planned your data– gathering procedure in your research project, you are now ready
to plan and present your chapter 3 also known as research methodology.
This lesson will teach you how to write your own research methodology. Are
you excited ? Let’s begin ...
Try This!
Task 1. Hephep or Hooray !
Instructions. Read the statements below . Write Hephep if it is true and Hooray if
otherwise. Write your answers in your answer sheet.
1. Sampling is not important in research, you can choose whatever and
whoever you wish to include as respondents.
2. Quantitative research deals more in words or description of a certain
phenomenon.
3. The process of data collection must be presented well in the paper so that
the procedure is well-written and expressed.
4. Citing your sources from credible references will help your research paper
much in getting basis for your study.
Keep This in Mind!
Your thesis or research paper needs to discuss the methods you used in
your research. The methodology chapter explains what you did and how you did it, allowing
your readers to evaluate the reliability and validity of the research. It should include:
Example: The survey consisted of 5 multiple-choice questions and 10 questions that were measured on a
7-point Likert scale. The aim was to conduct the survey with 350 customers of Company X on the com-
pany premises in The Hague from 4-8 July 2017 between 11:00 and 15:00. A customer was defined as a
person who had purchased a product from Company X on the day of questioning. Participants were giv-
en 5 minutes to fill in the survey anonymously, and 408 customers responded. Because not all surveys
were fully completed, 371 survey results were included in the analysis.
• Indicate how did you process your data and analysis(Which software you used to analyze the data
(e.g. SPSS, Stata or R) and (Which statistical tests you used (e.g. two-tailed t-test, simple linear
regression)
Example: Before analysis the gathered data was prepared. The dataset was checked for missing data and
outliers. For this the “outlier labeling rule” was used. All values outside the calculated range were
considered outliers (Hoaglin & Iglewicz, 1987). The data was then analyzed using statistical soft-
ware SPSS .
• Your methodology should make the case for why you chose these particular methods, especially if
you did not take the most standard approach to your topic.
• Discuss why other methods were not suitable for your objectives, and show how this approach con-
tributes new knowledge or understanding.
• Remember that your aim is not just to describe your methods, but to show how and why you applied
them and to demonstrate that your research was rigorously conducted.
• Discuss obstacles
Task 2. Twit-it
Instructions. Look at the following statements about research methodology. Identify whether it
is correct or not. Write your answers in your answer sheet.
TRUE or FALSE ?
TRUE or FALSE ?
Research 2 is using a
quantitative research design
which focuses on amount and
numbers.
Reflect
Task 3. Twit-it
Instructions. In your answer sheet, think of a twit or a post or hashtag that you would like to
share after doing this lesson. Kindly draw the figure and write your answer in the speech
bubble. Write a short reason for writing it.

Task 5. Plantito and Plantita on the go !
Instructions. Read the research situation of a plantito and a plantita. Write your responses in your
answer sheet.
Ara and Miguel are certified plantita and plantito. In line with their research project, they
thought of making a survey about the interest of people nowadays in plants and in gardening. As a re-
searcher, help them answer the following questions.
• What do you think is the research topic that they would like to do? ________________
• Who are their respondents? _______________________________________________
• What kind of quantitative design they will use? _______________________________
• What sampling technique are they going to use? _______________________________
• How are they going to collect data? _________________________________________
• How are they going to analyze the data? _____________________________________
