I. Objectives
1. Derive the formula in finding the area of triangle.
2. Find the area of a triangle with the given base and height.
3. Solve real-life word problems involving finding the area of a triangle.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Finding the Area of a Triangle
Mathematical Concept: The formula in finding the area of a triangle is A= (bxh)/2.
Materials: Tablet, white board, balloon, marker, puzzle pieces, triangle cut outs,
ruler, boxes, bondpaper, brush, charts, PowerPoint Presentation

III. Procedure/Teaching Strategies


A. Preliminary Activities
a. Drill
Using Quizzizz, an online game-based platform, pupils will answer
each multiplication and division sentence in group.

b. Review
Direction: Find the area of a square, rectangle and parallelogram.

c. Motivation
Each group will assemble the puzzle pieces to form different triangles
with different images.

Ask the pupils about the images they formed. Integrate the lesson to
different learning areas.

Those plain figures are related to our topic for today.

Grade 4 SSES class of Victoria East Central School want to create a


beautiful triangular garden to support the school’s clean and green
program. Pupils want to know the area of the garden to determine how
much soil and plants they will need. The triangular garden has a base
measuring 8 meters, and the height is 5 meters. What is the area of the
triangular garden of Grade 4 SSES Class?
2. Derive the formula in finding the area of a triangle using rectangle and
parallelogram.
3. Based on the given formula, solve the problem.
4. Give some examples to the pupils and let them answer on the board.
5. Each group will be given triangle cut-outs. They will measure the height
and base using a ruler and find the area of each triangle. (Measure and
Record)
6. Give another activity to the pupils to test their understanding on the topic.
