INTRODUCTION TO NEURALINK: 3

▪ Neuralink maybe defined as “Computer to brain interface firm”.

▪ Neuralink was launched in July 2016 and was publicly reported in
March 2017.
▪ It was founded by Elon Musk, Mask Hudak, Paul Merola.
▪ The company's headquarters is in Pioneer Building in San Francisco,
California, U.S
▪ Neuralink is a company in which they designed a ‘chip’ which is
capable of connecting the outer world with the human brain.
▪ The company has hired several high-profile neuroscientists for the
accomplishment of this procedure.
WHAT IS NUERALINK? 4
 Neuralink is the future of technology as humans can
possibly use it to operate machines with their brains.
 It will also help study the electrical signals in the brain
and arrive at solutions that can help cure various medical
problems for example: a paralysis.
 The chip known as N1 chipset installed in our skull
which is 8mm in diameter and has multiple wires housing
electrodes and insulation for the wires.
 The wires are surgically placed inside our brain. The
wire is as thick as neuron in our brain and thinner than a
strand of our hair.
HOW DOES NEURALINKS WORKS? 5
In order to understand how neuralink works we must have
to understand that: BRAIN-MACHINE
 Neurons are used to send information to all of our body INTERFACE
parts and for communicating as well. For this they use
chemical signals which may known as
Neurotransmitters. BRAIN

 The reactions that occurs it generates an electric field,

dedicated apps. And the process is going to be
completely wireless.
HOW WILL NEURALINK BE INSTALLED? 6
Musk has said that the procedure is complex and beyond the
capabilities of even skilled human hands so:
 For drilling a hole in our skull and for inserting the wires neuralink
will be using its specially developed robots to carry out the quick
and precise insertion of the device into our skull.
 The neuralink robot insert that device in our brain by using a
microscope and a needle which is sized as 24 microns.
 They said that 10,000 electrodes going to insert in brain for this ROBOTIC MACHINE
procedure. Each electrode will be inserted specially bypassing any
kind of blood vessel.
 For the insertion it requires a 2mm incision which will be dilated
up to 8mm. After the completion of procedure, the exposed part of
the skull will be covered with the chipset module.
 The time taken for this procedure is up to 2 hours. THE NEEDLE
HOW CAN NEURALINK BE USED?
7
 The company said that their focus was to help the
healthcare industry.
 It can use as a connection between human brain and
technology. Its main purpose is to help people to
communicate through text and voice messages.
 The people with paralysis can easily operate their phones
