CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

A. Background of the Study

The issue you want to address from the source of data. Bring some survey result

on how people in society perceive the issue, either they care or not. Tell the reader

how your issue is so important for social well-being or for justice or other

humanitarianism perspective. You may add some definition about the issue you

address.

Your first argument on how previous research addressed the issue you address

from particular field of study and how the result of their study, bring some

contradiction or something that may weaken the result of the previous study if

you may. (At least 2-3 previous research, more than 5 is better)

Your second argument on how previous research addressed the issue you address

from another field of study (at least 2-3 previous research, more than 5 is better)

Your third argument on how previous research addressed the issue you address

from your field of study (at least 2-3 previous research, more than 5 is better)

Your fourth argument by bringing how your field of study has close relation to

the issue you address. Give the readers about the definition of the field of study

you chose and explain why this is the suitable approach to work with.
The conclusion on how the theory you chose may contribute to give solution to

the issue you address.

B. Problem Formulation

1. The question which can be answered descriptively by using the terms from

the theory you chose (what, who) (when, where)

2. The question which can be answered interpretatively by using the terms

from the theory you chose (why/how)

C. Objective of the Study

1. The answer of the first question (descriptive in nature)

2. The answer of the second question (interpretative in nature)

After you have done with all reviews bring the paragraphs out of the table and

you will have review related studies in a good and correct way. The gap of the

research could be theoretical gap which means that the theory you used is

different from previous research, or methodological gap when you used different
method such as qualitative or quantitative or mixed methods. The other gap is

contextual gap which makes your research different in context for example one

the context of history, place, time, or context of issue although it may have similar

object.

E. Research Methodology

1. Data and Source of Data

Tell the reader what object you observed (this is the source of the data),

and what you analyze from the object you observed (this is the main data)

2. Data collecting technique

Tell the readers about the steps in collecting the data in the form of

procedural text. If it is possible you can use the available collecting data

techniques from the research methodology experts.

3. Data analyzing technique

Tell the readers about the steps in analyzing the data in the form of

procedural text. You have to show the use of the theory to answer you

research question in problem formulation.

F. Presentation

Inform the reader on how your undergraduate thesis is organized such as what

chapter 1 is, what chapter 2 tells about, what chapter 3 discusses and what

chapter 4 is about.
CHAPTER II

THEORETICAL APPROACH & FRAMEWORK

A. Theoretical Approach

The approach you took in analyzing the data. Approach is the perspective you

chose in investigating the data. You can explain as well how your data can be

best approached by using particular theoretical approach and you can tell why

it is suitable for your data analysis.

B. Theoretical Framework

You can choose one theorist and his proposed ideas or tools in analyzing the

issue you are investigating. You have to make sure that every research

questions you has are investigated using the theory proposed by theorists and

make sure that the theorist you chose is well-known and notable theorists. In

theoretical framework you are expected to give the detail information on the

tools you used in analyzing the data and the examples of each category.
CHAPTER III

ANALYSIS

A. (RQ1)

This part is the description of first research question and if it is possible you

can use charts, tables, or diagrams in showing the research results and

describe the first research question in descriptive ways or as you mentioned in

chapter 1.

B. (RQ2)

This part is the interpretation of research result. The interpretation should be

well-connected with the description of first research question. In this part you

can oppose or support the previous study you reviewed beforehand. In this

part you can also consider to bring the description of your first research

question closer to the issue you addressed.
