Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social

problems, as well as practical problems.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Settling abroad has been an attractive trend among many individuals nowadays. However,
living in an oversea nation might not be as ideal as citizens have always been thinking, for a
wide range of issues might exist, such as language barrier and race discrimination.

One evident obstacle to foreigners is the language barrier, which is the most common
dilemma in communication. The inability to speak in a different language prevents individuals
from fully expressing their personality and forming bonds with others; thus resulting in
discrimination and separation between migrants and locals. Furthermore, the linguistic
barriers limit the ability of individuals to work or study due to their struggle with language.
International students may not fully understand the teachers, which significantly decreases
the ability to absorb the lessons.

Another difficulty for people living abroad is discrimination towards foreigners existing in
numerous countries. To specify, many native citizens
Recruiters, for instance, tend to prefer local applicants to immigrants according to native
people prejudice against international candidates.

To conclude, I firmly believe that living overseas results in negative consequences related to
communication. However, these problems can be tackled.
