1. Employee trained and medically fit?

2. PPE for workers: hard hat, overalls, leather gloves, safety boots, ear protection (when required)?

3. Excavation recorded?

4. Employees using buddy system to lighten task and turn taken?

5. Adequate tools used for job to increase efficiency

6. Any pedestrians and/or unauthorized workers present?

7. Designated walkways?

8. Employees sheltered from the elements and excessive heat?

9. Excavated material thrown at least 2m from excavation?

10. Worker equipment in good condition?

11. Services identified and/or Wayleaves obtained when required?

12. Safe access provided i.e. ladders etc?

13. Sufficient barricading?

14. No heavy machinery used on close proximity of work?

15. Suitable shoring or other methods used to prevent collapse when required?

16. Employees have access to cool drinking water in close proximity to work area?
