BLUE TERNATE AND KAMOTE TOP AS AN ALTERNATIVE INK MARKERS

THE PROBLEM
FIRST MASTERY EXAMINATION IN RESEARCH 2
Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Blue Ternate and Kamote Tops as

alternative marker ink and produce a cheaper alternative ink similar to commercial ink. This

experiment was conducted at the University of Cebu, Banilad Senior High School building at

6000 Gov. M. Cuenco Ave., Cebu City, in the S.Y. 2022-2023. The result of the study will be the

bases for recommendation.

Specifically, the study purposely answered the following:

1. Is there a significant difference between the concentrations of Blue Ternate and

Kamote

Tops mixture in terms of the following:

1.1. Intensity

a) 41.25g Blue Ternate, 13.75g Kamote tops, 75 mL Ethyl Alcohol, 10 mL

Iodine, 5g Sodium Chloride;

b) 13.75g Blue Ternate, 41.25g Kamote tops, 75 mL Ethyl Alcohol, 10

mL

Iodine, 5g Sodium Chloride; and

c) 27.5g Blue Ternate, 27.5g Kamote tops, 75 mL Ethyl Alcohol, 10 mL

Iodine, and 5g Sodium Chloride.

2. Is there a significant difference between the most effective mixture of the Blue

Ternate and Kamote Tops alternative ink to the commercial counterpart in terms

of:

2.1. Intensity;

2.2. Viscosity; and

2.3. Drying Time.

Statement of Null Hypothesis

HO1.There is no significant difference between the different concentrations of Blue

Ternate and Kamote Tops mixture in terms of the following:

1.1 Intensity

a) 41.25g Blue Ternate, 13.75g Kamote tops, 75 mL Ethyl Alcohol, 10 mL

Iodine, 5g Sodium Chloride;

b) 13.75g Blue Ternate, 41.25g Kamote tops, 75 mL Ethyl Alcohol, 10

mL

Iodine, 5g Sodium Chloride; and

c) 27.5g Blue Ternate, 27.5g Kamote tops, 75 mL Ethyl Alcohol, 10 mL

Iodine, and 5g Sodium Chloride.

HO2. There is no significant difference between the most effective mixture of the

Blue Ternate alternative ink to the commercial counterpart in terms of:

2.1 Intensity;

2.2 Viscosity; and

Criteria Points Comments
Problem Statement (Area 1) 20
It clearly states the purpose of the study without inclination to different
interpretation of meaning /The general problem/question/purpose is clearly
defined.
It also reflects the main components of the problem statement explicitly such that it
determines the test between variables.
Specific Sub-problems (Area 3) 20
Alignment to the general problem is manifested. Each sub-problems contributes to
the elucidation of the problem. Sub-problems represent the different facets of the
problem and exploratory in nature. Sub-problems are in question form and can be
empirically validated and arranged logically. The main purpose/inquiry must be
reflected as well in the sub-problems. Minimum of 3 sub-problems.
Null Hypotheses 20
The statement clearly identifies the assumption of the research. It shows the
direction the researchers need to prove.
Grammar (Area 4) 10
Adheres to the conventions of grammar such as punctuations, diction, S-V
agreement, clarity, etc.
