There are three types of Hajj: Hajj e Tamattu, Hajj e Qiran, and Hajj e Ifrad. Hajj e Tamattu involves performing Umrah first with a separate ihram, then wearing ihram again on the 8th day for Hajj. Hajj e Qiran involves wearing one ihram at the start for both Umrah and Hajj together. Hajj e Ifrad only involves performing Hajj without Umrah, and is generally for residents of Makkah.

- There are 3 different kinds of Hajj (mention names)
- This depends on whether the Hajji is living in Makkah or not, whether he wishes to perform Umrah along with Hajj & whether the pilgrim desires to offer sacrifice of animal
P2:
- The pilgrim of this category is called mutanattay
- Tamattu means to ease, since the pilgrim releases his Ihram before the 8th - In this the pilgrim first wears ihram with the intention of performing Umrah - Umrah is performed - This Ihram is taken off after performing Halq/Qasr - Then on the 8th, Ihram is worn again, this time with the intention of performing Hajj - This Ihram is taken off on the 10th, once again after performing Halq/Qasr
P3:
- The pilgrim of this category is called Qarin
- Qiran means cojoining, since the pilgrim joins Umrah and Hajj in the same Ihram - Before the 8th, the pilgrim wears Ihram with the intention of performing Umrah and Hajj both - After offering the Umrah, the Ihram is not taken off and is continued until the end of Hajj - The Prophet (PBUH) himself was a Qarin himself - On the 10th, the pilgrim does Halq/Qasr and then are relieved from the restrictions of Ihram - The residents of Makkah cannot offer this kind of Hajj
P4:
- The pilgrim of this category is called as Mufrid
- Ifrad means isolation, since in this the Hajji separates Hajj and Umrah and only performs Hajj - There is a strict condition that the pilgrim of this category must not have performed Umrah in Shawwal, Dhil Qad and Dhil Hajj - The pilgrim wears Ihram on the 8th of Dhil Hajj with the intention of performing just Hajj - Mufrid does not perform sacrifice but performs Halq/Qasr and takes off the Ihram - This is generally performed by the residents of Makkah
