In this documentary I plan to show viewers how AI is changing the future of photography. AI
is quickly changing the way we capture, edit, and share images, giving photographers and
enthusiasts an unprecedented range of tools and creative possibilities. This documentary
explores the huge impact of AI on the future of photography, highlighting its potential to
enhance creativity, speed up workflow, and change the art of image-making.
Key Resources:
History:
Researching how the roots of AI in photography can be traced back to the early years of
computer science.
How AI digital Imaging and processing played a role in the development of algorithms for
tasks like image enhancement, noise reduction, and colour correction.
The development of face detection and recognition algorithms and how these technologies
laid the groundwork for applications like automated tagging and facial recognition in photo
management software.
How mobile phone cameras and apps started utilizing AI for features such as Image
stabilization, automatic scene detection and enhanced image editing.
How camera manufacturers began incorporating AI into their hardware. AI-driven features
such as real-time image analysis, improved autofocus, and scene optimization became
standard in modern digital cameras.
Explain that AI is now a central component of popular photography apps and online services.
From automatic image tagging to intelligent photo curation, AI enhances the overall
photography experience for users.
Interviews:
Steve Bell: As our photography teacher, Steve Bell can give insights into the educational
aspects of how teaching methods have adapted to in camera AI integrated features and AI
features in photo editing software’s.
Filming:
- Conduct interviews with experts, educators, and photographers.
- Capture footage of demonstrating how I use AI in post-production to improve my
photos.
- Establishing shots of my collage before my interview with the photography
teacher.
- Document the use of different cameras and equipment to show technological
advancements in AI features.
Treatment
Noise Reduction: Reducing noise in low-light photos, resulting in cleaner and sharper
images.
Portrait Mode: AI-driven portrait modes can create background blur (bokeh) effects,
even on smartphones with a single camera.
Image Restoration: Restoring old or damaged photos, reconstructing missing parts
and enhancing overall quality.
Photo Synthesis: The ability to generate entirely new images from textual
descriptions, opening up creative possibilities.
I will showcase my own attempt at using generative fill to show how AI is giving people the
ability to add or remove items with just a few lines of prompt.
I plan to interview Steve Bell to can give insights into the educational aspects of how
teaching methods have adapted to in camera AI integrated features and AI features in photo
editing software’s.
