SENIOR ONE FINAL EXAM Paper 1

Time allowed: 1h.15’ (+ List: 1h. 30’)

SECTION A: Reading Comprehension

Read the text below and mark the statements true (T) or false (F).

My name is Sigrid and I go to English classes at a Language Academy in Auckland, New Zealand. It
is a modern building with a big garden. In summer it is great to have lunch outside.
On the ground floor of the Academy, there is a shop. Students can buy books, note pads and pens
at very cheap prices. This shop also sells sandwiches and small cakes, hot and cold drinks and fruit.
There is a library on the first floor and all students can get books, CDs and DVDs. There is also a
crèche for the students’ children. Many of the students have small children, so lots of them come to this
crèche. The children are from 6 months to 4 years old and they speak many different languages.
Two African ladies, an Australian man and a Chinese lady look after the children. In this sunny room
there are many toys, books and games and the children have a wonderful time – they always look happy.
At 10.30 in the morning, the children get a drink and some fruit. The staff are very kind and patient.
