Q1. a) Explain the factors affecting the turning effect of a body.
b) Define equilibrium. Give one example of dynamic equilibrium.
c) A uniform metre rule of weight 100 gf being balanced on a knife edge placed at the 40cm mark,
by suspending a weight w at the mark 20cm,
Find :- i) the value of W
ii) the resultant moment and its direction if the weight w is moved to
the mark 30 cm
iii) the position of another weight of 50 gf to balance the rule in part (II)
d) Define C.G. Mark the position of centre of gravity of given figure in the diagram.

Q2. a) Explain the difference between the uniform circular motion and uniform linear motion.
b) Draw a diagram for a pebble tied by a string, moving in a circular path and show the direction of
centripetal force, centrifugal force and velocity at any instant. If the string braks, in which
direction the pebble will move.
c) A small pebble tied by a string to its centre, is placed near the periphery of a circular disc.
The disc is rotating about an axis passing through its centre. What will be your observation
i) When you are standing at the centre of the disc
ii) When you are standing outside the disc. Explain it.

d) In the fig shown two forces each of magnitude 25N acting at the points A and B at a separation
of 50 cm in opposite direction. Calculate the resultant moment of the two forces about the point
i) A ii) B and iii) O situated exactly at the middle of the two forces.
