I. JOB MISSION

The position is responsible for performing various library skills, providing patrons
with assistance in the use of library materials and research in the library unit.
One is also responsible in maintaining the orderliness of library resources of the
unit.

II. KEY RESULT AREAS

1. Well-maintained library collection


2. Organized library environment that is conducive for learning
3. Customer service assistance to library patrons

III. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Regular:

1. Assist library customers in the use of library.

2. Circulate library collection by charging and discharging books.

3. Conduct regular book shelving and shelf reading.

4. Record periodical subscription.

5. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness in the library.

Occasional:

1. Scan and read newspapers for vertical file clippings.

2. Prepare and organize the vertical file.

3. Coordinate and follow-up students and faculty members with overdue books.

4. Prepare library statistics (utilization, borrowed materials, etc.)

5. Assist in the annual inventory of library materials in the unit.

6. Perform minor repairs of library materials.

7. Perform other related tasks assigned by Unit Librarians, Chief Librarian and
Director.

IV. COMPLEXITY OF WORK

Analytical:

Assigned task involves routine or standard procedures but demands recognition


of deviations from accepted routine.

Interpersonal:

Consult with Chief Librarian for work assignments, schedules and consultations;
cooperate with other library staff.

Communicate and deal with students, faculty, employees and visitors regarding
the use library materials.

Work Effort (Physical, Visual & Concentration):

Lifting, carrying, and shelving of books require physical effort.

Visual attention is needed during recording of statistics and materials


inspections.

Work Condition:

Air conditioned library environment, 100 % of time spent at work area

Formal Schooling:

A Bachelor’s Degree of Library Science or Library and Information Science or


graduate of any four year course

Experience Required:

3. Effective oral and written communication
4. Good interpersonal skills
