I. JOB MISSION

The position is directly responsible in providing assistance to patrons and in the


use of library materials.

III. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Regular:

1. Perform or delegate daily activities such as checking library material in and


out, shelving of books, monitor users with overdue materials and ensure that
all bona fide students, faculty and employees are registered in the library
system.

2. Promote organized library collection and environment that is conducive to


learning.

3. Organize and issue circulation and overdue notices to concerned library


users.

4. Maintain statistics on library use and utilization of library resources.

5. Assist with the maintenance, implementation and development of the library’s


automation system and network.

Occasional:

1. Monitor the schedule and assignments of library and student assistants


assigned in circulation section.

2. Provides circulation service orientation and training to Library Assistants and


Student Assistants.

3. Perform other related duties and responsibilities which may be assigned by


the Chief Librarian and /or Director, Learning Resource Center.

IV. COMPLEXITY OF WORK

Analytical:

Assigned task involves routine or standard procedures but demands recognition


of deviations from accepted routine.

Interpersonal:

Confer with Head, Public Services and Chief Librarian for work instructions and
consultation; coordinate with other library staff in relation to circulation of library
materials.

Communicate and deal with students, faculty, employees and visitors regarding
research and library use

Work Effort (Physical, Visual & Concentration):

Lifting and carrying of books from circulation desk to shelves, walking and
making rounds in the library area require physical effort

Visual attention is needed in conducting inventory and material inspection

Work Condition:

Air conditioned library environment; 100% of the working time at the Circulation
Section

Supervision Given:

Related tasks; work methods are well-defined or covered by standard operating


procedure; workload of subordinates are uniform or similar; direct supervision of
personnel is required

Supervision Received:

General and irregular supervision

VI. JOB SPECIFICATION

Formal Schooling:

A Graduate of Library Science or Library and Information Science with professional


license for Librarians

Experience Required:

At least 2 to 4 years of experience in Library operations

Special Skills Required:

1. Thorough knowledge of library practices, procedures and techniques


2. Strong public relations skills
3. Proficient with Microsoft Application, Internet and online searching
4. Excellent written and oral communications
