A. About IIC Institute


• Vision / Mission of IIC established at the Institute
Vision of the Institute Innovation Council (IIC) at Mailam Engineering college

"To foster a robust innovation ecosystem within the institution that stimulates creative
thinking, facilitates knowledge sharing, and pioneers technological advancements. We
envision transforming the institute into a hub of innovative solutions and entrepreneurial
endeavors that contribute meaningfully to the society and the nation."

Mission of the Institute Innovation Council (IIC) at Mailam Engineering college

Inspire and Educate: Encourage students, faculty, and staff to think innovatively, offering
educational resources and programs that nurture an innovative mindset.

Collaboration: Develop interdisciplinary platforms that bring together diverse thinkers and
experts, fostering an environment where ideas from different fields merge to create holistic
solutions.

Engage with Industry: Strengthen industry-institute partnerships, facilitating real-world


problem-solving, internships, and collaborative research projects.

Promote Entrepreneurship: Assist budding entrepreneurs in the transition from ideation to


execution, providing mentorship, resources, and networking opportunities.

Outreach: Engage with the local community, industry partners, and global networks to share
and gain knowledge, promoting the institute's innovation culture.

Recognition: Celebrate and acknowledge the innovative endeavors within the institution,
creating a culture that values creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.

both current and future societal challenges.
Journey of IIC established at the Institute
We started full pledged IIC activity last year onwards, this year onwards we will conduct
more events
Diversified representation in the IIC established at the institute from industry,
Interdisciplinary & Departments/ Units etc.
1. Industry Partnerships:
• Tech Corporations: We've onboarded representatives from leading tech
companies to provide insights into current market needs and the latest
technological advancements.
• Startups and Entrepreneurs: Local startup founders and entrepreneurs
participate to share their journey, challenges, and insights, offering mentorship
opportunities.
• Research Institutions: Collaborations with premier research institutions ensure
that the IIC remains at the forefront of scientific advancements.
2. Interdisciplinary Integration:
• STEM Integration: While rooted in technology and engineering, our IIC
collaborates closely with the Science and Math departments, ensuring
innovations are scientifically sound and advanced.
• Humanities and Social Sciences: Understanding that innovation isn't just about
technology, we've incorporated insights from humanities and social sciences
to ensure that solutions are holistic, ethical, and cater to societal needs.
• Arts and Design: Recognizing the importance of design in innovation,
representatives from arts and design faculties participate actively, adding
aesthetics and user-centered design principles to innovations.
3. Departmental and Unit Collaboration:
• Engineering Departments: From mechanical to computer science, all
engineering departments actively participate, leading tech-driven innovations.
• Business and Management: The management department ensures that
innovations are not just technically sound but also viable in the market.
• R&D Unit: Our dedicated Research and Development unit collaborates closely
with the IIC, ensuring that academic research translates into practical, real-
world applications.
• Training and Placement Cell: This cell works in tandem with the IIC to ensure
that industry needs are communicated and addressed, creating a seamless
transition from innovation to employment or entrepreneurship.
4. Student Representation:
• Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students: Students from all academic levels
participate actively in IIC, bringing fresh perspectives and energetic zeal to the
council's projects.
• Student Clubs and Societies: Various tech, entrepreneurial, and subject-
specific clubs and societies have representation, ensuring a wide array of ideas
and skills.

B. Brief mention of key functionaries at the IIC Institute

1. President:Dr.M.Vijayaragavan
• Role and Responsibilities: As the highest-ranking officer in the IIC, the
President provides leadership and direction to the council. They oversee the
formulation and execution of the council's strategic plans and initiatives. The
President represents the IIC at official events, liaises with the institute's
leadership, and fosters relationships with external stakeholders, including
industry partners and other educational institutions. They also ensure that the
IIC adheres to its mission and vision.
2. Vice President:Dr.N.Muralikrishnan
• Role and Responsibilities: The Vice President assists the President in their
duties and steps in to lead in their absence. They often have specific portfolios
or projects under their supervision, ensuring their effective execution. The
Vice President also plays a pivotal role in team management, conflict
resolution, and guiding other members of the council.
3. Convenor:Dr.M.Vijayaragavan
• Role and Responsibilities: The Convenor is primarily responsible for
organizing meetings, events, and workshops under the IIC's banner. They
ensure effective communication among council members and maintain records
of proceedings, decisions, and actions taken during meetings. The Convenor
also plays a crucial role in coordinating logistics and ensuring that the IIC's
events and programs are executed smoothly.
4. Coordinators:Dr.Ganesan, Dr.Sathishkumar,Dr.Johnsi Rani
• Role and Responsibilities: Coordinators are typically responsible for specific
domains or departments within the IIC, such as technology, industry relations,
student outreach, or public relations. They ensure that tasks in their domain are
executed effectively, liaise with relevant stakeholders, and report updates to
the higher-ups in the IIC. Coordinators often lead teams, manage resources,
and ensure that their domain's objectives align with the IIC's overall goals.

brainstorm and develop their startups.

entrepreneurs provide guidance to nascent startups.
• Conference Rooms: For pitching sessions, team meetings, and networking with
potential investors.
