Description of Scope of Work:
01) Preparation of As Built Drawings (N/A):
As-built drawing is a set of drawings containing architectural floor plans and drawings of
structural elements of an existing factory. An as-built drawing also includes the dimensions, geometry,
and location of all components of the project. Architectural as built drawings commonly include details
such as walls, doors, windows, slab outlines, room size, floor occupancy, building section and elevation
etc. The structural as built drawings shows column layout, foundation layout, column reinforcement
details, Foundation reinforcement details, Beam layout and design of beam reinforcement, stair details
and slab layout and design of slab reinforcement. For steel structures the structural as built drawings
also includes details of base plate, details of steel column, mezzanine floor details, rafter/main beam and
secondary beam details, Details of composite slab, details of cable bracing or member bracing etc. Other
than the above the as built drawings may include details of water reservoir, ramp details, retaining wall
details, details of shear wall etc. The drawings of the connected structures and master layouts may be
included with above documents.

In order to prepare the above mentioned documents from scratch, our engineers have to visit the
project several time. Take measurement of each and every structural element their relative distance.
Foundations are explored to find out the type of foundation. Rebar Ferro scan and rebar expose are done
ensure the number and diameter of the reinforcement

02) Material Testing (N/A):

A material testing is a well-established technique used to determine the physical and mechanical
properties of construction materials and components. Several material testing techniques are adopted for
engineering assessment. They are described as follows

Steel Plate test: Steel Plate test usually made from ridged carbon steel, is a construction product
mechanically anchored in reinforced concrete and masonry structures to improve tension. Rebar testing
is a basic tensile test, where an escalating tensile load is applied to a rebar specimen until it yields or
breaks, revealing important data about the specimen’s strength.

03) Structural Analysis by Computer modeling:
Structural analysis is the determination of the effects of loads on physical structures and their
components. Structural analysis employs the fields of applied mechanics, materials science and applied
mathematics to compute a structure's deformations, internal forces, stresses, support reactions,
accelerations, and stability. The results of the analysis are used to verify a structure's fitness for use, often
precluding physical tests. Structural analysis is thus a key part of the engineering design of structures.
In order to find out the above results a three dimensional computer generated simulation model of the
structure is prepared by using suitable structural analysis software like ETABS, STADD Pro, SAP, SAFE
etc. Then load is applied over the structure as per as built condition and floor usage. BNBC guide lines
are followed at the time of load application. Also lateral load like earthquake and wind forces are applied
as per BNBC guide lines. Advanced structural analysis method like Dynamic analysis, Response
spectrum analysis, P-Delta effects, Modal analysis, Push-over analysis are performed if required. The
selection of analysis method depends on type of the structure and building code requirements.

04) Preparation of Engineering Assessment (EA/DEA) report or Design report:

Based on above mentioned data an engineering assessment report is prepared. An engineering
assessment report describes the condition of the existing structural elements for the load specified in
building design code such as BNBC. This describes which members are adequate and which are not
adequate. Which members need strengthening. Adequacy check of foundation, feasibility of existing
foundation system, amount of strengthening (if required). Engineering assessment report also contain
evidence for as built documentation such as column and beam size measurement pictures, foundation
excavation pictures, core cutting pictures, rebar expose and rebar dia measurement pictures. The report
may also contain crack investigation reports, Causes of cracks and crack repair methodology. The
assessment report may contain calculation and design of immediate props if the structures are critically
weak.
The assessment report also contains design of retrofitting, sequence of construction during
retrofitting work and retrofitting schedule. The scan report, all test report and as built drawings are
attached with the assessment report to form a full report.

05) Detailed Retrofitting Drawings (if required):

If the structural members in consideration are not sufficiently strong to carry the required
loadings strengthening of the members are required. A retrofitting drawing includes layout of columns to
be retrofitted, Section of retrofitting columns, Layout of shear connector and shear connector details.
Retrofitting beam layout, details section and elevation of beam retrofitting, Slab retrofitting layout and
details. If the footings or foundation is not adequate details layout and section of retrofitting may include
in the retrofitting drawings.

Other than the above documents the retrofitting drawings includes specification of retrofitting
materials, chemicals used for retrofitting works, strength of plate and welding specification for steel
structure retrofitting. Sequence of retrofitting construction and safety measures during construction period
may include with retrofitting drawings.

06) Preparation of loading plans:
Loading plans are allowable loads that the floor can carry. Loading plans are also dependent on
the floor occupancy and usage. Loading plans are based on analysis results. That is floor load capacity is
dependent on column capacity and beam capacity. Loading values of some area are specified by building
design codes such as BNBC. Considering all those facts a proposed loading plan is prepared which will
be effective after retrofitting work is completed.

Before the completion of retrofitting work a safe loading plan is prepared which will be
maintained by the building authority. Safe load plans are also based on calculation and analysis data.
Load plans must be posted on the respective area and a responsible person should make sure that floor
loads does not exceed the value mentioned
