A. GENERAL
(1) This publication is issued as the basic Overhaul Manual for the “Business Class”
Passenger Seat Assemblies "16NC()T()()()()ZA", manufactured for ALITALIA aircraft
B767-300 by AVIOINTERIORS SpA
Via Appia Km 66.4 - 04013 Latina (Italy) Phone.: +390773 6891 Fax: 00390773-631546
(2) For the seat arrangement on aircraft see Fig. 101.
(3) The seat part number refers to the complete seat and it does not specify the back and
bottom fabric cover colour.
(4) For seat fabric cover colour distribution see table 2
(5) For seat outlines, see fig. 102 and 103.
B. DESCRIPTION
(1) GENERAL
The seat has been designed to have the possibility to change configuration from the
upright position during take-off and landing to the flat one during the cruise flight. The
sequence of movement is managed by the software that coordinates the actuators
movements.
Due to the relative movements of the various parts, the seat can assume different con-
figurations for each position. This possibility is especially due to the movement of the
seat pan, legrest and footrest.
In fully upright position, it is possible to move the seat pan in up-forward and down-
rearward direction, the legrest and the footbar in up and down position. The move-
ments are managed so that the footrest does not hit the floor or the front seat.
However, the software does not permit to move the footrest when the legrest is com-
pletely raised and the seat is in full upright position.
To move the seat from the reclined to the upright position a switch is available. This
switch is unique and recognizable to the passengers by means of small placards prin-
ted on the armrest's console.
During cruise, in each seat configuration the seat pan, legrest and footrest can be
moved without problem.
All moving parts (e.g. footrest, legrest, seat pan etc) are designed to avoid pinching
and/or shearing effects in order to eliminate potential injury hazards. In each position
of the seat the internal structural and electric parts are protected by the fairings to avoid
potential injury hazards to the passengers and to avoid generic objects to fall into the
structure and remain stuck.

bolts, and the rear beams by means of bolted collars. The legs are manufactured from
solid aluminum alloy.
(5) FOOTWELL
Cavity situated in the lower aft part of the seat allows the rear seat to get to flat position. The car-
pet installed inside the footwell will be provided by Alitalia.
(9) LEGREST
The legrest is connected to the seat pan and is made of a composite plate. The legre-
st setting system consists of an electric actuator.
25-26-38
Page 102
(10) FOOTREST
The front footrest is constituted by a phenolic honeycomb plate. It is fixed by means
of bolts on two machined aluminum arms that are fixed on the legrest.
(12) HEADREST
It consists of a small cushion that can be moved manually along the seat back in the
vertical plane. The headrest is made of a composite sheet; it has two ear flaps made
of aluminum plate to allow major comfort for the passenger.
(13) ARMREST
It is made of phenolic honeycomb. Aisle armrest can be let down by means of a lever
placed forward on the control panel. The movement guarantees more comfort to the
passenger when the sliding structure is deployed.

GENERAL NOTES:
(1) DURING TAKE-OFF, SEAT MUST BE KEPT IN UPRIGHT POSITION.
(2) TO FACILITATE THE USE OF THE SEAT, IT IS NECESSARY TO
INFORM THE PASSENGERS ON THE SYSTEM OF SEAT MOVE-
MENT, AND IN PARTICULAR THE WAY HOW IT IS POSSIBLE TO GO
FROM RECLINED POSITION TO COMPLETELY UPRIGHT POSITION.
THIS MAY BE DONE BY MEANS OF "PASSENGER BRIEFING
CARDS" OR EVEN BY ORAL EXPLANATION OF THE CREW BEFO-
RE TAKING-OFF.

This para regards the installation of the seat into the aircraft from loading and tran
sport till fixing of the seat on the track and seat-to-seat electrical installation.
To move the lie flat seat inside the aircraft, special trolleys (P/N CTP002LF for
DBL seat and P/N CTP003LF for SGL seat) (see fig.s 1F, 1G) were developed
specifically for lie flat seat model.
1) To allow the passage of the seat and its trolley through the aircraft door, it is
necessary to recline the seats slightly (so as that the top of the headrest does
not prottrude outside the top shell). Remove also shoes compartment by acting
on its ataching screws.
Note: the removal of shoes compartment from SGL seats is needed only to per
mit reaching the fwd and rear fittings for the installation of the seat on the tracks.

(1) OXIDE
a) Ferrous parts
Areas showing oxidation marks shall be brushed with a metal brush until a homo
geneous surface is obtained. Oxidation exceeding .5mm or pitting make the
component not suitable and it must be replaced.
Oxidation of any extension is allowed provided that the maximum depth of the
oxidized area is less than .5mm as compared to the contiguous surface of the
non-oxidized area.
Metals parts may be subject to soft local damages both during aboard operation
and during installation and transport.
a),Dents
Parts showing dents of maximum 2mm are allowed. If dents show local sharp parts
blend them with surrounding unaltered metal. If blending causes removal of
treated surface an Alodine 1000 treatment shall be applied if a dent is reported
on a critical area (i.e. close to a structural attachment), the person in charge of
control summons Engineering and Production Departments to ascertain the
component condition. The Engineering Dept. shall either issue an acceptance docu-
ment (if necessary it shall be approved by RAI) or it shall reject the part and, in
this case, the component shall be replaced.
25-26-38
Page 121
b) Scratches
An unlimited number of scratches are allowed provided that their depth does
not exceed 1 mm.
If a scratch causes a sharp area blend it with unaltered contiguous metal. If blen
ding causes removal of treated surface an Alodine 1000 treatment shalbe
applied.

(1) Lift up the anti-rattle nut (1) and the rear plunger (2).
Fit the seat into the track and move it to the wished position.
(2) Engage the rear track fitting into correct track station. Gradually tighten shear
plunger screw (3) down.
+8.8
Back off torque and re-torque to 7.0 +1 -0 Nm (61.9 -0 lb.in).
Verify plunger (2) engagement:
a) If, after installation, red paint on the shear plunger is still visible, this means
plunger is not fully engaged. If so, check the tabs on the shear plungers to
ensure contact with the seat track (3 of 4 tabs contacting the track is accep-
table).
b) Verify head of fastener is in contact with saddle (partial contact is accepta-
ble).
(3) To fix the forward leg into the track hand tighten the ring nut (1) and then thi-
ghten 1/8 to 1/4 turn more using an hex wrench.
Note: if the seat after this adjustment should shackle, remove the seat from the
track and check if the front stud is tighten to a torque of 19.5 ± 1Nm (172.5 ±
8.8 lb.in).
Warning: Replacing the rear fitting, pay attention to not pre-load the leg clevis:
tight the nut just until it aproches the clevis.
