I. Design title; TWO STOREY SPRAWLING RESIDENTIAL BLDG.

II. Statement of the problem:

A foreign family has the intension to invest their wealthy life in the Philippines
somewhere in upper land of Tagaytay looking over to the horizon view of Taal lake and
Volcano. This families are looking for a designer to interpret their conceptual ideas projecting
Passive design strategies for Warm and humid climate for a residential unit suitable to
tropical setting, to adopt and integrate the natural setting of environment and preserved the
ecological setting of the place. You have been called to design a sprawling residential house
that is one of a kind.
Moreover, sprawling simply means spreading out over a large area in an untidy or irregular
way.

III. Design objectives:

a. To plan and design a two-storey sprawling house using 50% indigenous materials such as
natural stone, timber and wood and 50 % modern innovative materials such as glass and
metals etc.
b. To Design a luxurious house built in the harmony of natural and ecological environment.
c. To Design a house integrating natural light and air ventilation.

IV. Design requirements:

1. Car garage for 3 cars with tool storage (separating from main house but with
direct access to service entry of the house) (7.92 x 11.88)

3. Den’s room / Office (3.65 cm x 4.26 cm)
4. Formal Living area to accommodate 12 people (7cm x 9 cm)
5. Formal Dining area to accommodate 12 people (4.9 cm x 5.3 cm)
6. Large Kitchen with Island counter (6 x 6)
7. Pantry area accessible to kitchen (1.22 cm x 2.28 cm)
8. Indoor Lounge area to accommodate large crowd (4.87 cm x 7.31 cm)
9. Terrace with seating adjacent to outdoor Lounge area
10. Outdoor Lounge area (4.3 cm x 4.3 cm)
11. Bar counter accessible to Lounge and Living area ()
12. Powder room (no shower or bath) (1.52 cm x 1.52 cm)

V. Lot descriptions:
The proposed project location is in Tagaytay Height facing toward the Southern part is the
main highway over looking toward the Taal Lake, bounded on the Western, Northern and
Eastern are residential area. The lot is gradually sloping towards southern part and covered
with grass and some are fruit bearing trees. Below is the Lot Plan showing the natural and
ecological features for consideration to preserve some of the trees not to be tore down.
