NATIONAL ASSESSMENT AND CERTIFICATION ARRANGEMENTS

1. To attain the National Qualification of AGRICULTURAL CROP PRODUCTION NC


II the candidate must demonstrate competence in all the units of competency listed
below. Successful candidate shall be awarded a National Certificate signed by the
TESDA Director General.

2. The Qualification of AGRICULTURAL CROP PRODUCTION NC II may also be


acquired through the accumulation of Certificates of Competency (COCs) in all the
following units of competency:

 Perform nursery operations


 Plant crops
 Care and maintain crops
 Carry-out harvest and postharvest operations

3. Upon accumulation and submission of all COCs acquired, an individual shall be


issued the corresponding National Certificate.

4. Assessment shall focus on the core units of competency. The basic and common
units are assessed concurrently with the core units.

5. The following are qualified to apply for assessment and certification:

 Graduates of formal, non-formal and informal including


enterprise-based training programs
 Experienced Workers (wage employed or self-employed)

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ASSESSOR

Qualification : AGRICULTURAL CROP PRODUCTION NC II

Unit of Competency : PERFORM NURSERY OPERATIONS

1. Using the given materials, tools, equipment and facilities, instruct the candidate on the
following:

a. Segregate tools, farm implements and simple equipment and their corresponding
functions/uses and prepare them for pre-operation. (20 minutes)
b. Sketch a simple nursery shed. (5 minutes)
c. Identify at least 20 different seeds and 10 kinds of other planting materials of
representative agricultural crops. (20 minutes)
d. Given samples of seeds and other planting materials, select quality seeds and
other planting materials. (20 minutes)
e. Perform at least one technique in seed treatment. (10 minutes)
f. Perform one method of seed testing for germination. (10 minutes)
g. Perform at least one method of treating seeds and other planting materials
(application of fungicides, rooting hormones or inoculants). (10 minutes)
h. Prepare and sterilize a mixture of growing medium consisting of garden soil,
compost, and carbonized hull. (30 minutes)
i. Prepare a seedbed, seedling trays/boxes and other containers appropriate to crop
species. (20 minutes)
j. Sow seeds and prick seedlings. Label and arrange accordingly in the nursery. (30
minutes)
k. Perform a hardening technique for seedlings. (10 minutes)
l. Perform at least two asexual propagation techniques. (20 minutes)

2. The assessment shall be based on the units of competency in the Training Regulations
and the Evidence Plan and shall focus on the evidence gathering method below:

3. The final assessment shall be your responsibility as the Accredited Assessor.

4. Give the candidate feedback on the assessment result. The feedback should
indicate whether the candidate is :
