My neighborhood

My neighborhood is very peaceful and quiet. It is a new neighborhood, and there are a lot of big
houses and some apartment buildings. The streets are very clean, and there aren’t many cars. My
school is near my house. I can walk there in 10 minutes.

There’s also a park, which has a small playground for children and a large field. I like to play
baseball there with my friends after school. All of the houses have a small front yard but big back
yards. Most of my neighbors have a swimming pool, and some even have a trampoline!

Everyone has a flower garden, and in the spring, it is very beautiful. My road is called Maple Road.
It is not in the city. It’s in the suburbs. There aren’t any restaurants, bars or cinemas on my road.
But, if you go to Main Street, you can find a lot of things to do. My favorite store is there. It’s called
Knick-Knack, and they sell everything you can imagine.

I like my neighborhood because it is very safe. There is no crime, and all of my neighbors take care
of each other. The police station is next to the school, which is very nice. However, the hospital is
quite far. It is in the city, and we have to drive 30 minutes to get there.

Mount Everest

The Highest Garbage Dump in the World

Most people know that Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world. However, there is another
fact that many people don’t know: it has become one of the dirtiest mountains in the world.
Mount Everest is one of the toughest and most exciting mountains to climb on Earth. It is not the coldest
or the windiest place on Earth, but it comes close! These challenges make it one of the most attractive
mountains for serious climbers. Since 1952, over 3500 climbers have reached the top. Unfortunately,
most of them have left equipment and trash on the mountain.

In fact, trash is now one of the biggest threats to the environment on Mount Everest. Local
organizations have brought tons of trash down from the mountain. One of the most interesting projects
handed over more than a ton of tin cans, glass bottles, and old climbing tools to artists in Nepal. The
artists used the trash to create works of art. Then, they sold the art to raise money for local charities. The
leastexpensiveworkofartcost
$17, and the most expensive one cost $2400.

Reading - Teenagersnowadays

Teenagers nowadays

Today’s teenagers are heavily addicted to their phones, and they don’t know their phone numbers
because they rarely make actual phone calls with them.
Teens care about usernames and apps, not phone numbers. When they meet someone new, they don’t exchange
their phone number; they exchange their Instagram handle or their Snap username. They rarely even use
iMessageorSMSbecausetheirparentscanseethisactivity.
“Parents just don’t understand why we move from thing to thing so quickly. It’s not that we have a short
attention span, it is our generation’s ability to filter through information more quickly because we just get
bombarded with it so much,” said Shreyas, a high school senior.
Teenagers think Facebook is Lame. Even before recent controversies about Facebook’s collection anduse
ofdata,teenstodaythinkFacebookislameandsomethingfortheirparents and grandparents.
Teens use After School because they know that they are in a network with other teens from their school, and
they are able to connect and share anonymously. They’ve used anonymity to share things they wouldn’t share
on other networks — they’ll talk about difficult issues like coming out, depression, and the stress of high school.
Teens also love Snapchat “Snapstreaks” and posting on Instagram. Many teens even set up a second Instagram
account, which they call a “Finsta.” Their first account is a public person, and the Finsta is a more unfiltered
experience.

What should be doing in my 20s?
READING

According to some advisers, the way you spend your 20s deeply affects your later years. Herearethe
besttipson howtospendyour20sso youdon'tliveinregretlater.

Learn to accept and love yourself first.

Show some self-compassion. Scientists say it can make you more

successful because you're learning from your missteps. You shouldn’t
beblamingyourself for them.

You should be treating yourself as you would treat a friend or a

colleague who has failed. You might say to yourself: "This is
really hard right now," or, "I'm sorry you are struggling."

Take more risks.

"Don't talk yourself out of doing things you want to do. You
shouldn’t be waiting for opportunities to appear. You can go
for them. Don’tletfear win. Ifyou want to vacation in Europe, do
it. If you want to talk to that hot girl/guy at the bar, do it. If you
want to start your own business, do it (and do the research
first). Getting to your 30s and having a string of regrets is going to haunt you."

Don't compare yourself to others.

"In the social media age, it is tempting to beat yourself up if your

friends are getting married, having kids, and living a life of
luxury. We each live our own lives. The only thing you're going to
do is hurt yourself. You shouldn’t be worried about what others
achieved, but you should be considering yourself as someone
who
has potential to succeed in life at your own pace. Don’t forget that from the outside, people can seem a
lot happier and less troubled than they really are.

THE EFFECTS OF STRESS
READING

'Stress' means pressure or tension. It is one of the most common

causes of health problems in modern life. Too much stress results
in physical, emotional, and mental health problems.

There are numerous physical effects of stress. Stress can affect the
heart. It can increase the pulse rate, make the heart miss beats, and can cause high blood
pressure. Stress can affect the respiratory system. It can lead to asthma. It can cause a person
to breathe too fast, resulting in a loss of important carbon dioxide. Stress can affect the
stomach. It can cause stomach aches and problems digesting food.

Emotions are also easily affected by stress. People suffering from stress often feel anxious.
They may have panic attacks. They may feel tired all the time. When people are under
stress,theyoftenoverreacttolittleproblems.
Long-term stress can lead to a variety of serious mental illnesses. Depression, an extreme
feeling of sadness and hopelessness, can be the result of continued and increasing
stress. Alcoholism and other addictions often develop as a result of overuse of alcohol
or drugs to try to relievestress. Eatingdisorders, suchas anorexia, aresometimes caused
by stress and are often made worse by stress. If stress is allowed to continue, then one's
mental health is put at risk.

It is obvious that stress is a serious problem. It attacks the body. It affects the emotions.
Untreated, it may eventually result in mental illness. Stress has a great influence on the
health and well-being of our bodies, our feelings, and our minds. So, reduce stress: stop

F. Read the article and check your ideas from Exercise

Howlikelyisitthatyou’llloseyourjobtoarobot? According
to Toby Walsh, a professor of Artificial Intelligence, it’s
hard to think of a job that a computer won’t be able to
do. There are already some factories where all the
work is done by robots, and there will certainly be
more in the future. But what about teachers, engineers,
and electricians? A team at Oxford University studied 350
different professions and suggested that 35 percent of UK
jobs might go to robots in the next 20 years. In particular,
work that is repetitive1 or involves handling small
objects will be at risk of automation.2 On the other hand,
jobs that involve helping other people or having original
ideas will probably always need people. So journalists,
nurses, engineers, and teachers won’t be at risk, but
clerical workers and telemarketers may not be so lucky.
The Oxford study gives the probability for each of the
350 jobs. Electricians (65 percent) are more at risk than
taxi drivers (57 percent). One global taxi company says
driverless taxis will be on every street corner
eventually. However, a spokesperson for London taxi
drivers isn’t convinced. “It won’t happen. Driverless cars
will never be able to work on roads at the same time as
normal vehicles.”

CELEBRATING THE NEW YEAR

In Ecuador we have a tradition to start the New Year in union with family and close friends, but there are
traditions that distinguish our beloved country, eat 12 grapes just when the clock strikes 12, use yellow
underpants, etc.
All aspire to start and end a new year with the best of aspirations in every economic, family and health
sense.

Japan Country
New Year's Eve Traditions and New Year's Customs in Japan: 108 Chimes to Ring in the Year. The 12
chimes so traditional in Spain are more than short in Japan. At 00:00 on January 1, Japanese temples ring
their bells 108 times. The Buddhist tradition assures that in this way the 108 worldly desires that cause
suffering are purified. After the ringing, the Japanese toast with amazake, a hot liquor very appropriate for

December 31 to throw buckets of water out the window. In this way, families believe they are free of the
problems brought on during the year that is ending. In addition, ontheislandit iscommontohearduringthis

1- Bullying Speech

2- Social Dream of Freedom 3-

Discriminatory speech.

4- Revenge Speech.
DANIEL PIGUAVE

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and
the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the
heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression will be transformed into an oasis of
freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will
not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream
today.

I have a dream that one day down in Alabama with its vicious racists, with its governor
having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, one day right down
in Alabama little Black boys and Black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys
and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall
be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made
straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith, we
will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be
able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of
brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle
together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free
one day.
