As World Bank (2022) discusses, "Around the world, waste generation rates are rising. In 2020,
the world was estimated to generate 2.24 billion tones of solid waste, amounting to a footprint of
0.79 kilograms per person per day

DENR (2021) reports the intensified environmental protection of solid-waste management:

"Solid-waste management plan, closure and rehabilitation of dumpsites, establishment of

Materials Recovery Facilities, and an environmentally sound disposal system."
