Foundation phase meeting held on the staffroom
Visit by Sharon fro maths.
Attendance register is needed.

3. Doubling and halving
4. Rounding and adjusting
5. Re-ordering
6. Linking addition and subtraction
Each term 2 strategies should be covered
Term 2 doubling halving.
Term 3
 Pre-test and post-test timing of learners should be considered.
 Post test. Marks should be recorded
 Teachers should not use his/her own numbers. Stick to the numbers given.
 Files should be read and understood before coming to the learners. In
maths 2 books are needed.
 Quad is no longer needed because it limits the learners work.
 1st week supposed to start with MSAP, then following week ATP
 The programme should start from grade 1 so that when they get to grade 3
already they know the programme
 DBE should be used daily
 Word sums
 Grade 1. 1 word sum per day
 Grade 2. 2 word sums per day 3 days
 Grade 3. 3 word sums per day

 Each grade needs to meet and come up with the way of how to divide the
strategies.
 Rounding and adjusting to the nearest 10
 Ms Ngoma suggested to go and check if everyone has these copies.
 These strategies should be separated.
 It was emphasised that bricks and robotics should be included on the time
table.
 Bricks-colours and shapes should be considered
 It was suggested that the school can buy those bricks.
 It was emphasised that in that hour 30 minutes bricks and robotics should
be included for 15 minutes.
 Grades should have competition through themselves to promote reading.
 Emphasised the issue of Egra in classrooms and should be monitored by
D.H.
 Training attended by Ms Shikwambana and Ms Mnyandu, points for their
attendance should be given to them.
 Screeining for grade 1. intervention strategies must be done to the learners
experiencing problems.
 Activities given to those learners.
 Profiles should be submitted to the relevant DHs and follow up should be
done to the teachers

Ms Mahanjana presented Life Skills
 She explain the issue of pictures that are supposed to be used.
 Poor letter formation
 Spelling errors need to be rectified.
 Language must be appropriate.
 Assess content taught
 Level form of questioning
 5% of work is correct.
 Need to use DBE’s it was emphasised
 They are going to sample a book for each teacher.
 Books must monitored by DH’s
 Questions should be at their level.
 Disruption in the learning environment can be the cause.
 Too much notes more than classwork's.
 It was suggested to avoid too much notes we must use DBE and go
straight to classwork in their books.
 Suggested to use bullet forms and minimize.

Reading challenge hence 2 hours from L.S was taken. Reading was
emphasised.
 Independent reading corners in the classrooms are needed.
 Shared reading Tuesdays pre-reading.
 Writing- learners work should be displayed

 Everyone should participate
 Should appear on the time table Wednesday was suggested for DEAR
for 30 minutes.
 It was also suggested those learners who are present and early can
start reading before 8 o’clock

Let us do the foundation just to improve


 Let us do something like reading in Friday. As we work or as we mark in
our assessment.

 Teacher are sick because of wind in their classes our DH must do follow
up.
 Report Grade 1 activites

 The first print has a mistake
 DHs they will make the copies for this report.
 They are going to check the coverage and it is something we have to look
at.
 DH plea us that: Let us not send assistance teacher to the DH when we
send activities.
