SDP MODULE 1: SELF-AWARENESS
WHO AM I?
Direction:
Write something about yourself - your personal strengths and
weaknesses; your core beliefs about life; and your dreams and
fears in life. (150 words)
I am able to plan my time and get things done. I also got better at being patient and try
to look at every problem in the most rational way I can. Aside from my strengths, I also have
my weaknesses. In terms of my communication, I’m still lacking and in addition to that, I’m also
very shy when it comes to many people. I have many insecurities about myself so I’m still not
confident but I’m working on it. My dream is to be a successful man and be financially stable
so that I can help myself as well as my family to have a comfortable life. But to achieve this
goal, I must work hard and might need to sacrifice something I care about. I believe that for
those who want to be on the top, one must begin at the bottom.

Resilience

2.How do this value help you develop as a student of T.I.P.?

We all know that high school and college are very different. College is harder,
takes up more of your time, and leaves you with little free time. If you just waste time,
you won't make it. College is harder and will show you how things work in the real
world. Before you graduate, you have to deal with a lot of problems. That's why I need
to be able to bounce back, I need to be resilience. To get through hard times, I have
to go through everything, deal with every problem, and then get back on my feet. I
might fail to solve one problem on my way to my goal, but that won't stop me from
getting there.

Student Development Program Workbook

Homework
3.What Filipino values do you think are missing nowadays?
I think that the Filipino values that are missing today are thriftiness and helping
others without expecting anything in return. I'm not implying this about everyone, but
many people want something in return when they help other people. Let's also admit
that, subconsciously, we also tend to expect something. For me, I think it's just me
recognizing that I just helped someone and being proud of myself. There are also
people who don't help people who need it because they don't want to be bothered.
There is also a lack of frugality in many Filipinos' values. Frugality is the state
of being careful with your money and other material resources. People, especially
teenagers, often buy things impulsively. Spending money on things they don't need
and probably will not use it. They say it makes them happy and is a reward for their
hard work. That's fine, but don't do it too often. Give your "needs" more weight than
your "wants."
