TOPIC: DIVIDING DECIMALS

- To divide decimals, move the decimal point of the divisor a certain number of decimal places to the right until it becomes a
whole number. Then move the decimal point of the dividend the same number of decimal places to the right. Use 0s as
placeholders necessary. Then divide as you would divide whole numbers.
- When dividing decimals by 10, 100, or 1000, mentally, move the decimals point of the dividend by the number of zeros in the
divisor to the left. Use 0s as placeholders if necessary.
- When dividing decimals by 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001 mentally move the decimal point of the dividend by the number of decimal
places in the divisor to the right. Use 0s as placeholders if necessary.
- Repeating or nonterminating decimals quotients can be written by placing horizontal vinculum on top of the digit or digits.
- Quotients with long repeating or nonrepeating digits can be rounded off based on a specified place value.

2. Answer the exercises on pages 107 to 108 in the book number items 1 – 36.
