Answer to question 2:

Teacher: Good morning, class. How are you all doing?.

Pupils: Good morning,ma. We are doing fine. Thank you,ma.

Teacher: Good. Our topic for today is Common nouns. Does anyone have any idea of what a common
noun is?. Yes,Ope

Pupil: (stands up) A common noun is a generic name for a person, place, thing or idea.

Teacher:That is correct. Everyone, clap for her. You can sit down,Ope. Just like Ope has said,a common
noun is the generic name of a person, place, thing or idea. Is there another person who can try to cite
examples for us?. No chorus answer, please.

Pupil: (raises hand) Miss

Teacher: Yes, you, give us examples

Pupil: Examples of common nouns are Jupiter, Atlanta and Taste of Thai.

Teacher: No, you got them wrong. You just gave examples of proper nouns, not common nouns. In
contrast to what Wale said, remember I said common nouns are generic names i.e names that are
general and not specific. (goes to the board) Look up, everyone. Examples of common nouns are planet,
continent and restaurant just like Wale had mentioned. Other examples are dog, cat, car, ship and many
others. You all understand now,abi?.

Pupils: Yes,ma

Teacher: Good. I will be giving you an assignment now. Give 20 examples of common nouns and submit
it tomorrow.

Pupil: I need to use the restroom,ma

Teacher: Go on, please. Alright, class. I'll see you tomorrow.
