For your ASYNCH TASK, kindly answer the following questions.
1. Why do we have skeleton?
- The skeleton is an essential component of the human body and is necessary for various physiological activities including blood cell production, body movement, organ protection, body support, mineral storage, and other physiological processes. In other words, the skeleton is an essential component of the human body and performs several essential tasks for our existence. 2. Why do infants have numerous bones compared to adults? - Infants have more bones than adults because as they grow, many of their bones fuse together. This is a result from a natural process known as ossification, in which portions of the bones gradually fuse together over time. Because of this fusion, the adult skeleton has fewer, bigger bones, which offers the body more stability and support as it develops. 3. Compare and contrast axial and appendicular skeleton. - The appendicular skeleton consists of the bones of the upper and lower limbs and their girdles. It controls movement through the limbs and related girdles, while the axial skeleton supports and protects the body's internal organs. It consists of the skull, auditory ossicles, hyoid bone, vertebral column, and thoracic cage. It has a limited involvement in movement. Together, these two parts make up the human skeletal system, which ensures both mobility and structural stability.
