INTRODUCTION

A. Background

A phrase is an expression that someone expresses about existing

feelings in the heart, both expressions of sadness, happiness, confusion, the
possibility of something, and many others. It is important for us to know the
types of expressions in English along with for example, so that when we
want to make an expression we already know its use precisely and correctly.

Ability is the ability, ability and talent for something. For example,
there is a sentence, I can take the ball from him. So the word can in this
sentence is an element of ability or capability for something. In English there
is also a system that forms abilities. Sentences in English about abilities are
not as simple as sentences in Indonesian and here is a brief explanation.
Abilities can be divided into two types, namely general abilities and specific
abilities. general ability is an ability where you can do something and then
you can apply this ability whenever you want. For example, the ability to
walk, swim, cycle, and the ability to speak Indonesian. In contrast to general
abilities, in specific abilities you have abilities, but you cannot use these
abilities successfully all the time. For example, your ability to repair cars.
Even though you are a mechanic, you cannot necessarily repair all car
damage immediately. Differentiation of general and specific abilities
usually appears in past abilities or ability sentences that use the past tense.

DISCUSSION

A. Understanding Talking About Ability

Ability is the ability, capability and talent for something. For example,
there is a sentence, I can take the ball from him. So the word can in this
sentence is an element of ability or capability for something. Talking about
ability means talking about someone's abilities or talents, for example
talking about your ability means talking about your talent or ability.

Abilities can be divided into two types, namely general abilities and
specific abilities. General ability is an ability where you can do something
and then you can apply this ability whenever you want. For example, the
ability to walk, swim, cycle, and the ability to speak Indonesian. In contrast
to general abilities, in specific abilities you have abilities, but you cannot
use these abilities successfully all the time. For example, your ability to
repair cars. Even though you are a mechanic, you cannot necessarily repair
all car damage immediately.

Differentiation of general and specific abilities usually appears in past

abilities or ability sentences that use the past tense.
