Re: Kidpublish Storytelling Festival and Writing Competition (Kindergarten 1 to Primary 6)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

One way to develop the skills and confidence of our students is to provide them an avenue through
competitions where they get involved and experience learning.

Hence, we would like to invite your child to participate in the Annual Writing Competition and
Storytelling Festival which is organised by Kidpublish.

Below are the details of the competition.

Story from any published printed children’s book (not e-book) that

Length of time 3 minutes for story telling duration (excluding the

The participant must introduce his/her name, school, and Grade level
at the beginning.

Then the participant must show the physical published story book
(not e- book or some printout) and mention the title of the story
before she/he starts.
Video
5 requirements
The participant does not need to hold the book all the time during the
story telling.

Please do not edit the video, do not animate the video, and do not
put any music on the video.

Save File name as: Category_School Name_First name_Last name


Record the storytelling video

The school will help to upload the video.

Grade 3-4 English:
Theme: Fable with any animal(s) that live in Indonesia
(Except orangutan, monkey, komodo, rhino - NOT allowed as
main characters).

Grade 5-6 English:


Theme: The Mystery of Missing “Things”

Grade 3-6 Bahasa Indonesia:
Theme: Fable with any animal(s) that live in Indonesia
(Except orangutan, monkey, komodo, rhino - NOT allowed as
main characters).

All writings have to reflect good moral or character value. All writings
have never been published anywhere, even for in-house school
magazine.
Grade 3-4: minimum 500 words
Grade 5-6: minimum 800 words
BI: minimum 500 words
8 Length of writing
The length of writing (# of words) is just for guidelines. It is acceptable
to go more than suggested range, but not recommended to go below
the minimum.
2 pencils, 1 eraser, and 1 bottle water

Kidpublish
All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation. Please ensure
correct names are submitted during registration, as no revision of
certification will be provided.

Finalists will be awarded with “GOOD WRITER” Certificate.


Winners and
11 Top 3 Winners will be awarded with a trophy and a chance for

publication of their stories.

Each winner will get a free publication opportunity from Kidpublish. If


the work is published, the winner and his/her school will each be given
one free copy of the published book.
Finalists and their parents must consent that the writing piece will be
published by Kidpublish if it is chosen as one of the winners. If refuse to
have it published, it means giving up the opportunity to compete for
winners.

Kidpublish retains the publication right of the winning stories solely.


The same story is not allowed to be used again for other competition or
submitted for any publication (even in-house for school magazine).
Publication
12 Kidpublish retains the right not to publish the story if the winner fails to

revise and meet the publication standard after winner announcement.

Kidpublish reserves the right to decide whether to publish the winner’s


story as single book or as compilation with other stories.

Winners and their parents will sign separate standard agreement for
publication after winner announcement. It involves grant of publication
right, and selling of the book.
