Material:
Yarn weight: Sport / 5 ply (12 wpi)
Yardage: 164 yards (150 meters) per 50g ball
e.g., 60% cotton 40% acrylic, Kacenka by Nitarna Česka Trebova, www.nitarna.cz
You will need about 60 grams totally.
I used a hook 3 mm
Colors: 7134 light coffee about 30 g, little amount of: 7784 brown, 6954khaki green, very
little amount of: 3374 red, 3324 light pink, 6124 bright green
Tip for alternative material: yarn named Jeans by Yarnart – exactly same yarn as Kacenka
Other material: 2 black mushroom buttons average 6mm or black beads, toy filling, needle
with blunt tip (tapestry needle), common sewing thread and needle, one wooden bead average
1 cm, Christmas button average 2 cm, by Dress it up, piece of ribbon width for bows
Size of finished reindeer Frankie: height 24 cm/ 9.4 inches (measured without antlers)
Please remember, that the size of finished toy depends on used material and your style of
crocheting also.
Abbreviations used:
Chain (CH)
Slip stitch (SlSt)
Single crochet (SC)
Double crochet (DC)
Increasing (inc): 2 SC in same stitch
Decreasing (dec): crochet 2 SC together
Yarn over (yo)
Front post double crochet (FpDC)
Back post double crochet (BpDC)
Instruction:
Begin with the legs and body: begin with brown yarn. You will crochet continuously in spiral
circle rounds. It means that you will not join the round with SlSt and then you will not turn the
work after finishing of every round.
Round 1: 2 CH, 8 SC in second stitch from hook (8 SC)

Round 2: inc in each stitch around (16 SC)

Round 3: 1 SC in each stitch around (16 SC)

Round 4: 1 SC in each stitch around, but you will insert a hook in back loops only (16 SC)

Round 6: [dec, 1 SC in next 3 stitches] - repeat 3 times totally, 1 SC in next stitch (13 SC)
Round 8 – 16: change the color, use light coffee yarn and crochet single crochet in each stitch
around (13 SC)
Round 17: [inc, 1 SC in next 3 stitches] – repeat 3 times totally, 1 SC in next stitch (16 SC)
Round 18: 1 SC in each stitch around (16 SC), end the work
Second leg:
Round 6: [dec, 1 SC in next 3 stitches] - repeat 3 times totally, 1 SC in next stitch (13 SC)
Round 8 – 16: change the color, use light coffee yarn and crochet single crochet in each stitch
around (13 SC)
Round 17: [inc, 1 SC in next 3 stitches] – repeat 3 times totally, 1 SC in next stitch (16 SC)
Round 18: 1 SC in each stitch around (16 SC). Don't end the work

You have prepared both legs. Place the legs next to each other.
Round 19: join both legs in this round by 1 SlSt and crochet 1 SC in every stitch from
previous round, crochet around both legs continuously. You will have 32 SC totally.
Round 20 - 34: 1 SC in each stitch around (32 SC)

Fill legs and body with toy filling continuously.

Round 35: [dec, 1 SC in next 3 stitches] – repeat it 6 times totally, 1 SC in next 2 stitches (26
SC)
Round 38: [dec, 1 SC in next 2 stitches] – repeat it 6 times totally, 1 SC in next 2 stitches (20
SC)
Round 39 - 40: single crochet in each stitch around (20 SC)
Round 41: [dec, 1 SC in next stitch] – repeat it 6 times totally, 1 SC in next 2 stitches (14 SC)
Round 42 - 45: 1 SC in each stitch around (14 SC), end the work. Fill the body with toy filling
carefully and thoroughly. Let longer thread for sewing the body and head together.
Head
Use light coffee yarn. You will crochet continuously in spiral circle rounds. It means that you
will not join the round with SlSt and then you will not turn the work after finishing of every
round.

Round 3: 1 SC, inc – repeat 7 times totally (21 SC)

Round 4: [1 SC in next 2 stitches, inc] – repeat 7 times totally (28 SC)
Round 5: [1 SC in next 3 stitches, inc] – repeat 7 times totally (35 SC)
Round 6 – 11: single crochet in each stitch around (35 SC)

Round 12: [dec, 1 SC in next 3 stitches] – repeat it 7 times totally (28 SC)
Round 13: single crochet in each stitch around (28 SC)
Fill the head with toy filling continuously.
Round 14: [dec, 1 SC in next 2 stitches] – repeat it 7 times totally (21 SC)
Round 15-16: single crochet in each stitch around (21 SC)
Round 17: [dec, 1 SC in next stitch] – repeat it 7 times totally (14 SC)
Round 18: [dec] – repeat it 7 times totally (7 SC), end the work. Fill the head thoroughly until
the end and sew the rest of the stitches. Use tapestry needle.
Muzzle:
Crochet the muzzle by using red yarn. You will crochet continuously in spiral circle rounds. It
means that you will not join the round with SlSt and then you will not turn the work after
finishing of every round.

Round 5: [dec, 1 SC in next stitch]- repeat it 4 times totally, 1 SC in next 2 stitches (10 SC),
end the work.
Fill the muzzle by toy filling and sew tiny heart button (average 6 mm) on it. Sew the muzzle
between 4-5 rounds from the beginning of the head.
Sew the head and body together. Sew it precisely, to the head will not fall.

Round 6 - 13: change the color, use light coffee yarn and crochet 1 SC in each stitch around
(10 SC)
Round 14: 1 SC in next 8 stitches, dec ( 9 SC)
Round 16 - 21: single crochet in each stitch around (10 SC). End the work after round 21. Let
longer piece of the yarn for sewing the paw. Fill upper legs with the toy filling just a little bit -
until a half. Let longer thread for sewing. Sew upper legs on the body.

Ears: Use light coffee yarn. You will crochet continuously in spiral circle rounds. It means that
you will not join the round with SlSt and then you will not turn the work after finishing of every
round. Make two same pieces.
Round 4-5: 1 SC in each stitch around (8 SC)
Round 6: dec, 1 SC in next stitch, dec, 1 SC in next stitch, dec, end the work. Don't fill the
ears with toy filling, they will stay empty. Let longer thread for sewing the ears.
Antlers:
The antlers consist from 4 parts – 2 bigger parts and 2 smaller parts. Use brown yarn. You will
crochet continuously in spiral circle rounds. It means that you will not join the round with SlSt
and then you will not turn the work after finishing of every round.
Bigger part: make 2 same pieces

Round 6: [dec] – repeat 3 times totally, 1 SC in next 6 stitches (9 SC)
Round 11: 1 SC in next 4 stitches, dec, 1 SC in next 3 stitches (8 SC)
Round 12-14: 1 SC in each stitch around (8 SC), end the work.
Smaller part: make 2 same pieces

Round 6: [dec, 1 SC in next 2 stitches] – repeat 2 times totally, dec. End the work.
Fill all parts with toy filling.
Shape the antlerts nicely, pin bigger parts on the head, with decreasing in round 6 to the head
direction and sew them. You will sew them in 4-6 rounds from the end of the head. Sew
smaller parts on the bigger parts.

Sew the ears very close - below the antlers.
Christmas ball:
Crochet the ball by using red yarn. You will crochet continuously in spiral circle rounds. It
means that you will not join the round with SlSt and then you will not turn the work after
finishing of every round.

Round 5: [dec, 1 SC in next stitch] – repeat 4 times totally, dec (9 SC), end the work. Fill the
ball with toy filling and sew the rest of the stitches.
Let longer thread for adding the bead and sewing on the antler. Use tapestry needle.
Cheeks: use light pink yarn, make 2 same pieces.

Beginning: 5 CH, join first stitch with 1 SlSt and form a ring
Round 1: 3 CH as a 1st DC, 10 DC in the middle of the ring, join first DC with 1 SlSt (11 DC),
end the work. Sew the cheeks on the head using red yarn and tapestry needle, visibly. Use
your hook and pull free threads inside the head.
Sew the eyes. Use small black mushroom buttons average 6 mm, common sewing thread and
needle. Sew them precisely. Sew the eyes in 13th round from the beginning of the head.

Hoodie:
Use khaki green yarn. You should know, how to crochet front and back post single crochet.
Front post double crochet:

3 CH for your first double crochet, yarn over (yo) and insert your hook from front to back to
front around post of stitch to be worked from the row below. Yo and pull up loop. Now you
have 3 loops on the hook. [Yo and draw the yarn through 2 loops on the hook] – repeat it
twice totally. The front post double crochet is finished.
Back post double crochet:

3 CH for your first double crochet, yarn over (yo) and insert your hook from back to front to
back around post of stitch to be worked from the row below. Yo and pull up loop. Now you
have 3 loops on the hook. [Yo and draw the yarn through 2 loops on the hook] – repeat it
twice totally. The back post double crochet it finished.

Beginning: 37 CH
Row 1: Insert a hook 4th stitch (first 3 stitches will be counted first 1 DC), from the hook an
crochet 1 DC in every stitch from previous row (35 DC), 3 CH for turning the work (they will be
counted as a first DC of next row), turn
Row 2: you will make the edge. You will alternate 1 front post double crochet and 1 back post
double crochet – repeat to the end 16 times totally, 1 front post double crochet in next stitch
of the row, 1 DC in last stitch of the row (you will have 35 stitches), 3 CH for turning the work
(they will be counted as a first DC of next row), turn
Row 3: 1 DC in next 8 stitches, skip 5 stitches, make 5 CH for antler hole, insert a hook sixth
stitch and crochet 1 DC in this stitch, 1 DC in next 6 stitches, skip 5 stitches, make 5 CH for
antler hole insert a hook sixth stitch and crochet 1 DC in this stitch, 1 DC in next 8 stitches (25
DC + 2 antlers holes), 3 CH for turning the work (they will be counted as a first DC of next
row), turn
Row 4: 1 SC in next 8 stitches, 5 DC in 5CH space from previous row, 1 DC in next 7 stitches,
5 DC in 5CH space from previous row, 1 DC in next 9 stitches (35 DC), 3 CH for turning the
work (they will be counted as a first DC of next row), turn
Row 5 - 6: 1 DC in every stitch from previous row (35 DC), 3 CH for turning the work (they
will be counted as a first DC of next row), turn. End the work after row 6.

Fold your work and crochet the edges together (see picture below, please), you will make 17
SC.
Then turn the hoodie to the right side and neaten free threads.
Try the hoodie on the Frankie's head, if it suits him :-).
Make the plaits. Take 3 threads of yarn about 30 cm long each one. Pull them through the
corner of the hoodie. Place them on the half and make nice plait. Cut the threads of the plait
straight. Tie nice ribbon bow on the plait. Make nice plait on the other site by same way.
