Introduction
Essential Questions:
 How do I compare numbers to place them in order?
After modeling how to compare numbers up to 100,000 using the place value chart, students will
be placing different numbers in order using number cards and sign cards and creating an
interactive multimedia poster showing how to place numbers in order and a word cloud to show
important vocabulary used.
Task
Students will be working in groups of 3 using a variety of number cards and sign cards: less than,
greater than, and equal to. They will have to compare different numbers and place them in order
from least to greatest. After this, they will be creating an interactive multimedia poster, showing
others how to compare numbers and they will create a word cloud with important vocabulary
words they learned.
Process
1. The teacher will model how to compare numbers up to 100,000 using a place value chart.
2. Students will be working in groups of 3 to organize numbers from least to greatest using
a variety of number cards and three sign cards.
3. Students will independently create an interactive multimedia poster showing others how
to compare numbers.
4. Students will reflect on the vocabulary learned by creating a word cloud.
