Introduction about IoT?
Think of a roller door that is commonly used in a home in the past. You come home at the end of the day. Then the roller
should come near the door and open it with the remote control. Then it must be shut down again by that remote
control. The garage lights should then be turned on after the vehicle is parked. This has to be done manually and it is not
easy to do it in the dark. You then enter the living room of the house and turn on the lights. If you want to turn on the
home AC, you need to find the remote control. It must then be activated. These are all manual events.

But today that has all changed. The roller door opens automatically when your car approaches the house and closes
automatically after parking. Also, when the vehicle arrives, the headlights on and off automatically turn off.

You no longer need a remote control to co-operate to activate your fan AC. You can do this with your one voice
command. This is the concept of a Summit Home.

Uses of IoT
According to the ‘Fracttal’ website, we can talk about 9 sectors in IoT applications. Three of them as given below:

1. Wearable

Monitoring body fluctuations such as heart rate with the use of small devices such as virtual glasses and calorie costs,
devices such as Bluetooth earbuds are just a few examples of the wearable devices we have been using for a long time
now. These are small and energy efficient devices that are equipped with several sensors. These devices are equipped
with hardware for measurements and readings, and software for collecting and organizing data and information about
users. (USA, 2021)

2. Health

This is an area where most humans today need IoT. This is a commonly used treatment that allows physicians to monitor
a patient's condition both out of the hospital and in real time by sending patient data using wear or sensors that are
attached to the patient. It then continuously monitors certain parameter and auto-alerts about the important signals
given by those machines. This greatly helps to improve patient care.

Another benefit here is the integration of IoT technology into hospital beds, allowing for smart beds equipped with
special sensors to monitor vital signals, blood pressure, oximeter and body temperature. (USA, 2021)

3. Traffic monitoring

The main purpose here is the smart city concept. It does many things that can be very practical and useful, such as
managing traffic in congested big cities, controlling roadside lights, and controlling CCTV systems.

In addition to the above, there are many trends today. Towards the "Smart Home" concept. Substituting this IoT
technology for their home shows several systems that are currently in use.

Current impact of IoT
Today, ordinary people are very busy. With the development of the world, a person is constantly thinking of a way to
facilitate his daily activities. For this reason. They need to automate their homes, cars, institutions. IoT is the only way to
do this. For this reason, there is a huge demand for various designs through this technology.

“Pune, India, May 11, 2021 (Globe NewsWorld) - The CAGR exhibits 242% forecast for the forecast period and predicts
that the global real estate market size will reach US $ 1463.19 billion by 2027. According to Fortune Business Insights,
the Internet of Things (IoT) Market, 2020-2027, industry growth around the world is driven by increased demand for
artificial intelligence and twin technology and precision farming. In 2019, the market was worth $ 250.72 billion, the
report said.” (Insights, 2021)

(Insights, 2021)

The chart below shows the value of the IoT market from 2017 to date and by 2028. It is clear that this market is growing
rapidly and will continue to grow in the future.

Benefits of IoT
Advantage of IoT

Monitor data

The primary and main advantage offered by IoT technology is monitoring. For example, it helps us to know exactly what
the plumbing system in your home is like, the electrical system or the gas pipe system, and it can also provide more data
that could not be easily collected earlier.

Ease of access

You can easily get the information you need in real-time from anywhere you are. All it takes is a smart device and an
internet connection. You can turn off the lights in your house, open or lock the door remotely.

Fast operation

With the help of this technology, you can work faster for your organization, home. This technology is used to monitor
the ink volume applied to your company's printers. As soon as the ink runs out, the company will send you a message
and you will receive a new ink bin before the ink runs out. That makes all the work faster.

3|Page
Adapting to new standards

Since IoT is a constantly changing and new topic, it is difficult for us to keep up with the latest without IoT compared to
other technologies in the high-tech world.

Better time management

In general, it is a time-saving tool.

Automation and control

These technologies are being developed by automation alone, allowing machines to communicate with each other
quickly and in a timely manner without human intervention.

Saving money

Another major advantage here is saving money. Properly covered, it will withstand a lot of adverse conditions.

Disadvantage of IoT
Data breach

It's great to have quick access to data. But unfortunately, our personal data has been leaked to the public. No matter
how many security measures are used, our information is insecure.

Dependence on technology

Because technology is used for every activity, you always have to rely on the technical software or the people who
process and control it.

The complexity of the operation

This technology runs simultaneously based on accurate data. That extinguisher should provide accurate data at the same
time. Some small mistakes can cause great damage and they can be irreversible mistakes.

Our security

This is very safe when it comes to security, but not all things work together. When a good-quality door lock is brought
into your home, it is very difficult to destroy it and enter the house. Imagine that you make your lock using IoT. Perhaps
this automatic lock that works for the aforementioned physical lock can be easily unlocked by a hacker.

Low employment of minor employees

Using this technology can greatly reduce the number of employees in your organization. But how fair is that? The impact
on minor employees and their families is devastating.

Introduction about project

In today’s world it is almost impossible to find a home or an institution that does not use a gas cylinder. But what are the
dangers of using this L.P. Gas and how to prevents it? there are very few answers to these questions. Many people use
this L.P. Gas but it does nothing about safety.

The latest new from NDTV:

4|Page
(NDTV, 2020)

Many of these accidents are caused by the inability to detect a leak in a gas cylinder or piping system. Through this
system we introduce a robot that can successfully detect a gas leak. This device can be used for home as well as
factories.

9. RISK

Here are a few more. These are as follows:

 Since the device is powered by a chemical in the gas, the sensors here can quickly become weak. Then it is
possible not to give accurate information in the event of a gas leak.
 Since there is usually a small amount of gas leaking when the stove is lit, in most cases when the stove is lit it
indicates a gas leak.
 This can be a dangerous test phase as the device must be gas leaking when tested.

Research Topic
This research is being done to find out how much the current world is connected with IoT technology. Here we look at
the impact of this technology on the lives of the general public, especially in recent decades. Different designs have been
made in different aspects of this technology. Some designs are used for military purposes. Other creations are designed
to save human lives. But any technology must be humane. Therefore, this gas leak detection robot offers another
humanoid robot.

It detects a gas leak and notifies it immediately.

But the purpose of this research project is to determine the extent to which this robot is necessary for normal human
life.

Project Description and Methodology

Background

As a current HND level student I have little knowledge of IoT technology. Therefore, all information should be obtained
from outside sources.

Aims

Uses of IoT technology, to what extent are they intertwined with people's lives? Do people still need this technology?
What are the shortcomings of the current technology? How long did it take for this to become popular? It hopes to find
answers to such questions.

Research methodology

The lack of attention paid by many software engineers to this field has led to a lack of innovation. It is my personal
opinion that this new technology should have a strong impact on the development of a country.

The following methodologies have been selected by myself to perform the process described above.

I chose the mix research method.

prime - Qualitative research

Here I intend to interview the companies I currently work with and get feedback on their knowledge and the extent to
which IoT technology is being used.

Secondary research methodology

It is primarily aimed at gathering information over the Internet.

20 | P a g e
Task 2.2

Evaluation for selected methodology

First of all, since the knowledge available is minimal, one should have strong faith in the sources of information. This
information should be collected in a timely manner. The ideal method for this is the quantitative data research
methodology in prime research methodology. Interviews can be done by contacting the average person with any of the
features available here. The pros and cons are listed below.

The purpose here is to use face-to-face interviews to collect data.

The advantages of the prime data collection method are as follows:

1. Ability to add a large number of different data to each other.

2. Data can be collected to suit this variant by having a specific methodology for obtaining data.

3. Since this data is obtained from the practical community, up-to-date and accurate data can be obtained.

But there are also disadvantages:

1. This takes a long time.

2. You will have to spend extra money for this.

3. This data collection depends on the individual and requires a large amount of data to be collected and filed.

To gather this information, obtain information from six major cities in the Colombo district of Sri Lanka and obtain this
information by conducting an interview. Below is how to conduct an interview.

1. Each of these individuals has been handed over to a contracting company to build a new home.

2. There they check how much they need this technical equipment for their home.

3. Young people are used to this discussion. That way you can see how far they have come in this technology.

In order to enjoy this information, you have to get the sources of information that are currently available on the
internet. It can give a broader definition to this age. The above method is successful but the internet is the easiest,
quickest and most accurate way to gather accurate data when gathering information. Therefore, it is common practice
to collect data from this source as well. This data collection belongs to the secondary methodology method.

This project provides more accurate protection for human activities. In gathering this information, all the people who
face the interviews will be informed about it.

21 | P a g e
Task 2.3
The interviews will be conducted in Homagama, Kottawa, Maharagama and Malabe in the Colombo District, the most
technologically advanced district in Sri Lanka.

The same person involved in these negotiations has put the burden of building a house on a company and is looking into
the extent to which they are using this technology for their homes.

There are 15 pre-arranged questions for this. Those questions are listed below.

Task 2.4

Evaluate the selection of appropriate tools and techniques

In this preliminary research method, I intend to use the quantitative data collection method. The full details are given
below:

INTERVIEW

An interview may be a face-to-face speech communication between 2 people with the only purpose of assembling
relevant data to satisfy an exploration purpose. Interviews are of various varieties namely; Structured, Semi-structured,
and unstructured with every having a small variation from the opposite.

Use this interview consent kind templet to let AN respondent offer you consent to use information gotten from your
interviews for inquiring analysis functions.

Structured Interviews - merely place, it's a verbally administered form. In terms of depth, it's surface level and is
sometimes completed at intervals a brief amount. For speed and potency, it's extremely recommendable, however it
lacks depth.

Semi-structured Interviews - during this technique, there live many key queries that cowl the scope of the areas to be
explored. It permits a bit additional leeway for the research worker to explore the topic matter.

Unstructured Interviews - it's AN in-depth interview that permits the research worker to gather a good vary of data with
a purpose. a plus of this technique is that the freedom it offers a research worker to mix structure with flexibility
although it's additional long.

Advantage

 In-depth data
 Freedom of flexibility
 Accurate information.

Disadvantage

 Time-consuming
 Expensive to gather.

What are the most effective information assortment Tools for Interviews?

For assembling information through interviews, here are a couple of tools you'll be able to use to simply collect
information.

Audio Recorder

An audio recorder is employed for recording sound on disc, tape, or film. Audio data will meet the requirements of a
good vary of individuals, additionally as offer alternatives to print information assortment tools.

Digital Camera

An advantage of a camera is that it may be used for transmission those pictures to a monitor screen once the necessity
arises.

Camcorder
25 | P a g e
A television camera is employed for assembling information through interviews. It provides a mixture of each AN audio
recorder and a video camera. the information provided is qualitative in nature and permits the respondents to answer
queries asked thoroughly. If you would like to gather sensitive data throughout AN interview, a television camera may
not work for you as you'd ought to maintain your subject’s privacy.

Want to conduct AN interview for qualitative information analysis or special report? Use this on-line interview consent
kind templet to permit the respondent to present their consent before you utilize the interview information for analysis
or report. With premium options like e-signature, transfer fields, kind security, etc., Form plus Builder is that the good
tool to make your most popular on-line consent forms while not writing expertise.

26 | P a g e
Task 2.5
The following is what I expected from this research before coming to a final conclusion.

1. To what extent does a person build a new house in Sri Lanka use IoT technology?
2. How much do they spend on it?
3. Are they aware of this new robot?
4. How much are you willing to spend for this new robot?
5. How interested are they in this robot?

The knowledge of the above and the conclusions that can be drawn from it are described below.

From the above data it appears that 100% of the people are not aware of this robot.

According to the above data, 100% of household stoves use gas but 76.9% do not use any safety measures for gas use.

According to the above data, although 100% are unaware of this robot machine, 84.6% are willing to buy it. This
suggests that this product may be very popular. This is because many people are reluctant to use a machine they do not
know about, but many people are obsessed with such a secure device. Therefore, a clear market for this new product
can be easily created.
27 | P a g e
And 76% want to buy it for more than 10,000LKR, so they can buy this robot for a good profit in the market.

100% have any IoT device integrated into their home. It seems that IoT technology is with them, even if they are not
aware of it.

23% wanted to install an alarm system to take action to detect gas leaks in their home. But they have some technical
limitations to use that alarm system. This system is useless especially when there is no one in the house. But with this
robot you can receive messages related to your mobile phone wherever you are. So everyone was inclined towards this
new robot.

Research/Tasks achieved
It has been decided to meet four people today to conduct the first interview. All these people are house
builders around Kottawa. Data collection started at 8:00 am and continued until about 3:00 pm. All work was
completed successfully. Today's proceedings proceeded as scheduled, subject to a planned time frame. There is
currently no need to make any changes to the arrangement as all data collection has taken place as scheduled.

Any risks and/or issues identified?

It was very difficult to make time to meet those people while collecting this data. But the task was made easier
as the data collection is currently getting very good feedback.
Points to consider:

Problems encountered
The main barrier was being able to take the time to interview people.
The easiest solution to this was to meet them when they arrived at their home construction site. Because it does
not take long and has short answers, it is possible to manage time and get accurate information quickly.

New ideas and change of project direction

Today, the first day, we had to go to one of the individual stations to collect data. For example, one person had
to go to a work place and another to a medical center. Therefore, I intend to get information when those
people come to their construction site.

What have I learnt about myself this week?

The project also provides knowledge to the interviewers. And they can learn about a new design. Therefore,
they all enthusiastically supported this cause. Accurate and efficient answers could be obtained when they
answered more enthusiastically. Accurate data always makes any project successful. I had very restrained and
polite discussions with the people who got all the information and they were not a hindrance to my work so I
was able to get emotional support at all times. This type of presence is available for all subsequent data
collection functions. Ethics and communication skills to be used in discussions with individuals were successful
for the first time and can be used for the next time as well.

Tasks planned for next week

The next to be selected are three individuals from the Homagama area. They will be interviewed and the data
will be recorded on the same day. Absolutely timed for all purposes.

Research/Tasks achieved
Four people were scheduled to be interviewed in the
Malabe area today, lasting from 8am to 4pm. Today we
were able to collect data well and have had some special
discussions. Here, I met a person related to the field of IT
and got to know about IoT technology and gas leakage
robot technology.

No

New ideas and change of project direction

What have I learnt about myself this week?

IoT technology and the successful methods that can be used in the
design of this robot. Many people are unaware of this dangerous
gas pipeline system in their homes and they need a solution.

Tasks planned for next week

Once all the data has been collected, prepare the data properly and
prepare their analytical reports
