Let Us Study
Finally we arrive on the last part of our lesson which is the
performance task. You are going to perform what you had learned on your
previous modules. As usual, you did a good job. It was quite impressive the
way you interact during our discussions. You were too curious and wanted
to learn more about the music in Africa, Latin America and of course
Popular Music. “I noticed that the most interesting part is knowing the
historical and cultural background of this two countries”. Exploring can
really answer your curiosity.

Now are you familiar with Bob Marley? “What about his songs”?
“Robert Nesta Marley” aka “Bob Marley” (Feb 6, 1945 – May 11, 1981) was a
Jamaican singer, songwriter and musician. He was considered as one of the
pioneers of Reggae. His musical career was marked by fusing elements of
Reggae, SKA (music genre originated in Jamaica in late 1950), and
ROCKSTEADY (music genre that originated in Jamaica in 1966). As well as
his distinctive vocal and song wring style. (Wikipedia)

Let Us Practice
“Now let us see”? Are you good in singing? Are you ready to
perform the song “One Love by Bob Marley? I will provide you a copy of the
lyrics of the song. All you have to do is familiarize the song first, as for the
tune of the song you can search the link provided below.

Then, practice singing the song with the lyrics.

One heart (sayin')
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright (sayin')
Let's get together and feel alright
(whoa whoa whoa whoa)

Let them all pass, all their dirty remarks (one love)
There is one question I'd really love to ask (one heart)
Is there a place for the hopeless sinners
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own (believe)

One love (what about one heart)

One heart (what about love)
Let's get together and feel alright (as it was in the beginning)

One love (so shall it be in the end)

One heart (alright)
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright
Let's get together and feel alright
(one more thing)

Let's get together to fight this Holy Armageddon (one love)

So when the Man come, there will be no no doom (one song)
Have pity on those whose chances grows thinner
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of creation (sayin')

One love (what about one heart)

One heart (what about love)
Let's get together and feel alright (I'm pleading to mankind)

One love (what about one heart)

One heart (oh oh)
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright
Let's get together and feel alright
(give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright)

Let Us Remember

“One Love “was once titled as “People get Ready,” a reggae song by
Bob Marley and The Wailers from their 1977 album “Exodus”. It was first
recorded in the SKA style by Marley’s original group. One Love has been
chosen by the BBC and named as “Song of the Century” It is recorded by
Bob Marley three times:

*It is recorded in the studio

*Recorded as part of the all-in-one medley (1970) which saw the
Wailers re-recording this SKA hits in Reggae style.
*Finally a straight up Reggae throw down, with extra musical phrases
from the Curtis Mayfield-penned impression hit “People get ready”
released in 1977.

Let Us Enhance
It seems that you are doing a great job in the task given. “The
performance task has the higher percentage in attaining your grade;
therefore you took it seriously”. Now you will have another activity to check
how much you learn about your lesson for this quarter.

I would like you to “Create your own lyrics using the Rhythm of One
Love by Bob Marley as an expression of your appreciation of the Reggae
music” As you noticed “One Love” is a praise song, for your composition it
will talk about your “Love” to your family. You will be guided by the following
criteria:

CRITERA POINTS
Content/ Lyric of the song 5
Musicality 5
Originality 5
Creativity 5

Let Us Reflect
Finally we are done with our second quarter lesson in Music which
is the “Afro-Latin American and Popular Music”. “Some of you may have
heard the Reggae music but are not familiar about it, the more that some of
you do not even know who Bob Marley is and his songs”. One Love is a
praise song; the content of the lyrics is purely praising the goodness of the
Lord.
I hope in this module you value the importance of taking your task
seriously. Not only that you had complied but also you have the chance of

6
improving your skills in singing. “This might be an avenue for you to realize
that you have the talent as a composer at the same time as a performer”.

Congratulations for a job well done, not only that you had
accomplished this module but the whole module in this quarter. I hope you
enjoy what you did and you look forward for the upcoming module for the
next quarter.

See you all and God bless.
