1. How would you define marriage?

- Marriage is about becoming a team. You’re going to spend the rest of your life learning about each
other, and every now and then, things blow up, but the beauty of marriage is that you picked the right
person and you both love each other, you’ll always figure out a way to get through it.

2. Why do people marry?

- The reasons why people get married is for love and companionship. To signify a life-long commitment
and to provide security for children.

3. Why is marriage more than a civil sign of the intention to live as husband and wife for Catholics?

- Holy matrimony, also known as marriage in the Catholic Church, is the “covenant by which a man and a
woman establish between themselves a partnership of their entire life and which is ordered by its nature
to the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring,” and which “has been raised
by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament between the baptized.”

4. When can one be allowed to contract Marriage?

- The age of consent to marry is 18 for both men and women

5. What is the basic requirement in Matrimony?

- Legal Age

- Consent

- Capacity

- Both partners should become baptized Catholics

- Not closely related. Catholics cannot marry first cousins or anyone else in their immediate family.
