1. What is a probability experiment?

- Probability experiment is the outcome of a certain situation or experiment that is being
conducted.

2. Define sample space.

- Sample space is a collection of all possible outcomes of an experiment.

3. What is the difference between an outcome and an event?

- The difference between an outcome and an event is that outcome is a possible result of an
experiment, while event is a set of all outcomes in an experiment.

4. What are equally likely events?

- Equally likely events are when the outcomes of an experiment are equally likely to happen.

5. What is the range of the values of the probability of an event?

- The probability of an impossible event is 0 and the probability of a certain event is 1. The
range of possible probabilities is: 0 ≤ P ( A ) ≤ 1 . It is not possible to have a probability less
than 0 or greater than 1.

6. When an event is certain to occur, what is its probability?

- If an event is certain to occur, its probability is one.

7. If an event cannot happen, what value is assigned to its probability?

- If an event cannot happen, its probability is zero.

8. What is the sum of the probabilities of all the outcomes in a sample space?
- The sum of the probabilities in a sample space must be equal to 1.

9. If the probability that it will rain tomorrow is 0.20, what is the probability that it won’t rain
tomorrow? Would you recommend taking an umbrella?
- The probability that it won’t rain tomorrow is 0.80. I would still recommend taking an
umbrella because even though that the probability that it will rain tomorrow is low or 0.20
there is still a chance that it will rain because chances are still chances and it’s better to be
prepared in any situation that is possible to occur.

10. A probability experiment is conducted. Which of these cannot be considered a probability of

an outcome?
a) 1/3
b) -1/5
c) 0.80
d) -0.59
e) 0
f) 1.45
g) 1

h) 33%
i) 112%

- B, D, F, I are the sets that is cannot be considered a probability of an outcome because the
probability of an event that is certain to happen is 1 or 100% and the probability of an event
the is cannot happen is 0.
