4.Determination of Resonant Frequency:

Trial Series RLC Parallel RLC

1 6043 (Hz) 6045 (Hz)
2 6042 (Hz) 6044 (Hz)
3 6045 (Hz) 6046 (Hz)

II. Data Analysis:

1.Resistance Measurement:
We have R X =R0
3

∑ Ri
R x = i=1 =2261(Ω)
3

√∑
3
2
(R xi −R x )
i=1
Δ Rx ≈ S . D ≈ =1(Ω)
3

Hence:
R x =2261 ±1(Ω)
2.Capacitence Measurement:
1 1
Z x= =R 0 hence CX=
2 πf C x 2 πf R0
−7 −7
C 1=8.79 ×10 (F) ; C 2=8.65 ×10 (F) ; C 3=8.29 ×10−7 (F)
3

∑ C xi
C X = i=1 =8.58 x 10−7 (F )
3

√∑
3
Δ C X ≈ S . D≈ ¿¿¿¿¿
i=1

Hence:
−7
C X = ( 8.58 ±0.12 ) ×10 (F)

3.Inductance Measurement:
R0
Z L =2 πf . Lx =R0 hence L x=
2 πf

We have:
−4
L1=8.59 ×10 (H )
−4
L2=8.52 ×10 (H )
−4
L3=8.44 ×10 ( H )
3

∑ L xi
L x = i=1 =8.52 ×10−4 (H )
3

3

∑ (L xi−L x )2
i=1 −4
Δ L x ≈ S . D≈ =0.04 × 10 ( H)
3

Hence:
−4
L X =(8.52 ± 0.04)×10 (H )
4.Determination of Resonant Frequency:
a. Series RLC Circuit:
3

∑ f xi
f x = i=1 =6043.3 ( Hz)
3

3

∑ ( f Xi−f X )2
i=1
Δ f x≈ S.D ≈ =0.7 (Hz)
3

Hence:
f X− Series=6043.3± 0.7 (Hz)

b.Parallel RLC Circuit:

3

∑ f xi
f X= i=1 =6045(Hz)
3

√∑
3
2
(f Xi −f X )
i=1
Δ f X ≈ S . D≈ =1(Hz )
3

Hence:
f X−¿ =6045 ±1 (Hz)

c.Theoretical Result and Conclusion

1
f=
2 π √ LC
1
f X= =5889.5(Hz)
2 π √8.58 ×10−7 × 8.52 ×10−4

Δ f X ≈ S . D≈ 5889.5 ×
√( 3.14 )( .
2 8.52 )(
0.01 2 −1 0.04 2 −1 0.12 2
+ + .
2 8.58
=47.3(Hz) )
Hence:
f X−Theoretical =5889.5± 47.3 ( Hz )

We can see that:

The theoretical result of resonant frequency is approximately equal to the
directly measured results. We can see that the RLC circuit (with properly
small resistance) becomes a good approximation to an ideal LC circuit.
