2023 SCOUTING MONTH: KICK-OFF CEREMONY

SONG AND YELL COMPETITION

MECHANICS/GUIDELINES AND CRITERIA

BASIC INFORMATION:
1. The competition will be held on October 7, 2023 after the opening program.
2. There will be two (2) categories:
a. Primary Scouts: KID, KAB and Boy Scouts
b. Secondary Scouts: Senior and Rover Scouts
3. There will be NO REGISTRATION FEE but all Scouts must be Renewed this year.

GENERAL GUIDELINES:
1. The contest is open to all participating scouting institutions both in Public, Private and Community
Base institutions.

2. Each participating team is composed of minimum 25 scouts and a maximum of 50 scouts.

3. A maximum of 3 minutes performance including entrance and exit.

4. The use of whistle and head gear is allowed, but this has no point added to the criteria.

5. The use of drum and other musical instrument and the use of body props is strictly not allowed.

6. The use of inappropriate language and profanity are strictly prohibited.

7. The use of body lifting, body tossing and pyroclastic materials are strictly prohibited.

8. ATTIRE must be in TYPE A, OR TYPE B, OR TYPE C with the prescribed official neckerchief and slide.

9. The committee has prepared an official timer to take note of the time consumed by each
participating institution.

10. FAILURE to COMPLY with the above-mentioned guidelines means a 10 points deduction from the
total accumulated points

11. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.

Relevance to the Theme - 20%
Section Representation - 20%
Mastery and Timing - 25%
Originality - 15%
Clarity of Voice - 20%
TOTAL - 100%
