CID CONDUCTS LAC ON DRRM AND HEALTH CONCEPTS CURRICULUM

INTEGRATION

SDO Lucena Curriculum Implementation Division through the initiative of the Public
Schools District Supervisors conducted a Learning Action Cell on the Integration of
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Climate Change Adaptation, Core
Messages and Concepts and other Health Concepts in the K To 12 Curriculum in a
hybrid modality, July 27.
In order to adhere and effectively implement the stipulations under D.O 37, s.2015
otherwise known as “Comprehensive DRRM in Basic Education Framework” that
institutionalizes DRMM structures, systems, protocols and practices in DepEd Offices
and schools, as well as to provide common understanding and language in the
implementation of DRRM and Health Concepts in basic education at all levels, a
division learning action cell was conducted among supervisors, school heads, and
head teachers at Lucena City National High School Conference Hall. On the other
hand, Master Teacher participants attended the orientation via Microsoft Teams.
Four (4) topics have been discussed during the LAC session. Topics 1 and 2
encapsulated the salient features of DepEd Order No. 37, s. 20215 and the Integration
of DRRM in the K to 12 Curriculum was delivered by PDO II – DRRM Ms. Preciosa
Marie T. Alba. Moreover, topic 3 as delivered by Dr. Don Rey C. Cariaga, Medical
Officer III talked about the Integration of Health Concepts in the K to 12 Curriculum.
Finally, the last topic delivered by Dr. Erwin R. Abrencillo, Division Science
Coordinator, gave an in-depth look into the competency mapping of DRRM and health
concepts across the learning area. As application, a demonstration teaching was
delivered by Ms. Sheryl S. Mago, Master Teacher I of Dalahican Elementary School.
Open forum was also facilitated by Ms. Maricon V. Teñido, PSDS – Secondary.
Prior to the LAC proper, the opening program was attended by the CID Chief
Josephine T. Natividad. Her message inspired the participants to work together in
supporting the aim of the integrating DRRM and health concepts in the daily learning
experiences of Batang Lucenahin.

The flow of the orientation was facilitated by Dr. Rey Mark R. Queaño, PSDS – East
District.
