Honorable juries, and respectable audiences

Assalamualikum wr wb,
It is an honor for me to stand in this place to be given opportunity to deliver my speech. But
before of all, I am Lisa from Al-Jauhariyah Islamic senior high school.
Well, first of all, praises and thanks always be upon to our God, Allah swt, the lord of
universe.
Secondly, may sholawat and salam always be given to our great prophet Muhammad saw
who has brought us from the Jahiliyah era to this bright future era namely Islam.
Ladies and gentlemen,
I believe that all of you here know that pursuing knowledge is a must for every single
individual, and as the world today is getting more develop and modern, so we should not
stick only in one source of knowledge. Well, some people think that having general
knowledge as the provision to survive this life is enough, but some other might think that
religious knowledge is their priority. But for me, having a balance understanding in both
general and religious knowledge is the correct choice.
Okay ladies and gentlemen,
I am sure that you are already familiar with a place called Islamic Boarding School or
Pesantren. In fact, most of Madurese ever pursued their education in a Pesantren, and you
know? I am so proud and happy to know that.
Ladies and gentlemen,
For me, choosing Pesantren as a place to pursue knowledge is very correct choice, and that’s
because of one reason, it’s “Pesantren offers you both general and religious knowledge to
pursue”. To have a balance life is started with a balance understanding in both general and
religious knowledge, and education in Pesantren offers that, as I said before Pesantren offers
you both general and religious knowledge to pursue. The education in Pesantren is designed
to help individual understand what should they do and don’t do based on two perspectives,
the perspective of Islam and the perspective of this nation law. As the example, in Islam,
Hijab is a must for all women, but this nation’s law doesn’t obligate it as Indonesia holds in
the high esteem the value of individual’s human right. That kind of example teaches us to be
tolerance, and Islam also holds in the high esteem the value of tolerance, Islam teaches us to
respect, not to compel. This kind of lesson might not be obtained in a general school, but I
can guarantee you that Pesantren will always teach you this kind of lesson.
Well Ladies and gentlemen,
The education system in Pesantren might not be concepted that perfect, some aspects might
be missed. But in some couple years later, I believe that Pesantren in Indonesia will be ready
with their conceptual education system.
Okay, the last I say choose Pesantren because great Pesantren is great nation.
