Reasonable adjustment in assessment
Some students may need modifications to assessments due to disability, illness or special considerations –
this is called reasonable adjustment.

tasks for a unit satisfactorily to achieve an overall outcome of Competent (C) for that unit. If one or more of your tasks
are assessed as Not Satisfactory, you will be given an overall outcome for the unit of Not Yet Competent (NYC). You can
have 2 further attempts to complete the task and achieve a satisfactory outcome. You will be given a timeframe for your
resubmission and advised what you must include in your re- submission.
If, after the third attempt, you are still assessed as Not Satisfactory for a task, you will need to complete additional
training and assessment to support you in achieving a competent outcome. This may incur an additional fee for students
as identified in the fees and charges information.

INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS

In order to achieve consistency of performance, evidence should be collected over a set period of time which is
sufficient to include dealings with an appropriate range and variety of situations.
 You will be required to check your progress with the trainer/assessor at the completion of each part of the
assessment before commencing the next.
 The trainer/assessor will inform you of any significant errors or misjudgements throughout the procedure and
give valuable feedback to you for the rectification of the problem.
 If the result of the assessment is that you are Not Yet Satisfactory, you may be required to retake the
assessment.
 This is an observation of you applying a variety of short and medium length hair design techniques on a range
of clients within the designated workplace timeframe.
 Analyse the hair and scalp of the client then develop style concepts for the planned finished consistently using
effective questioning and active listening techniques to confirm service/s with senior operators and consistently
using effective questioning and active listening techniques to negotiate appropriately with clients, to take into
account any cultural or physical requirements, and to ensure client comfort and safety throughout the service.
 To analyse and identify the elements of hair designs, and alternative techniques that may be applied to achieve
those designs.

 This is an observation of you applying a variety of short and medium length hair design
techniques on a range of clients within the designated workplace timeframe.
Task (a)
Trainer will observed the student visually analysing the hair and scalp, consulting the client
and performing a short to medium hairstyle design procedure:
 Analysis hair and scalp conditions and type.
 Complete the Pre-service analysis form.
 Perform service for: Below shoulder Hair Length, Large Round Brush Blow wave.
 On completion of assessment the hair design should consist of:
Low Volume, Smooth and Tuck under finish, one length / solid hair design preferred.

 Complete the Short to Medium Hair Design Sheet, after service has been completed.
