DESCRIPTION OF TASK:

The yearly exam will be conducted as an online assessment task on Education Perfect*.

There will be two sections:

Section 1: 20 questions worth 1 mark each (multiple choice, drag and drop and fill in the blank type questions)
Section 2: Extended response questions worth a total of 25 marks
Total marks: 45 marks

*If school resumes as normal before the assessment period, the task may be modified to a pen and paper exam.
Schedule:

Syllabus outcomes:
CW2c identify some examples of common compounds
CW2e describe at a particle level the difference between elements, compounds and mixtures, including the type and arrangement of
particles
CW4d. compare physical and chemical changes in terms of the arrangement of particles and reversibility of the process
CW4a identify when a chemical change is taking place by observing a change in temperature, the appearance of new substances or the
disappearance of an original substance
CW4b demonstrate that a chemical change involves substances reacting to form new substances
CW4 c. investigate some examples of chemical change that occur in everyday life, eg photosynthesis, respiration and chemical weathering
9ES1 a. describe the structure of the Earth in terms of core, mantle, crust and lithosphere
