The main purpose of this is every individual having able to have equal opportunity for basic
needs to reach their full potential.

2. How is occupational justice described by Dr. Townsend shared from the workshop events
(ex. fairness)?
List here using bullet points:
 Fairness
 Creating a more equitable society
 Systems concepts
 Opportunity
 Inclusion (having resources)
 All these points being accessible to everyone regardless of differences.
3. What’s the difference between social justice and occupational justice?
Occupational justice and injustice falls underneath the bigger category of social justice.
occupational justice is about looking where people are resisted or prevented from
participating in everyday life. It is looking where they are stuck because of the system.
Environmental justice is a type of social justice.

4. What can OT’s do to address occupational injustices?

Ask what their passions are and what is going to stop them from doing that. This is a
good way to find the barriers and limitations.
Asking how we can help their voices be heard. How can we advocate.

5. What is the future of OT using the occupational justice framework? How can we advance
and advocate for occupational justice?
have a partnership with clients and be the voice that they need as well as having a
stronger voice for our profession since we have all the knowledge.
We can advance this by allowing students to be in opportunities where they have to
practice being the voice.

occupational justice and participation

What is the definition of social and environmental determinants of occupation (SEDO)?

Sedo are defined as broad social and environmental factors that increase or limit an individual,
community or population’s access to participate in culturally meaningful occupations of their
choice.
Sdoh are conditions in the environment where people are born, live, learn, work and play that
affect a wide range of health functioning and quality of life outcomes and risks
How is SEDO different from Social Determinants of Health (SDoH)?
The way that these two differ is that Sedo is directly related to an individuals role and place in
society and Sdoh is more broad.
