Task Card

WIRE STRIPPING
I. General Information
One of the most common skills of an electrical maintenance personnel is wire stripping. Learning
how to strip wires properly is a vital way of ensuring the safety of a machine, especially an aircraft. Safety
is the number one concern in the aviation industry thus every repair is done according to standards to
avoid any unnecessary issues.

II. Equipment and Materials

A. Tools and Equipment
● Cutter Blade
● Plier
● Side Cutter
● Wire Stripper

B. Materials & Consumables

● #18 Automotive Wire 2 meters

CAUTION & WARNINGS

Learning Objectives

● Repair and inspect aircraft electrical system components; crimp and splice wiring to
manufacturers’ specifications, and repair pins and sockets of aircraft connectors.
● Demonstrate the ability to identify and use electrical circuit test equipment: digital and
analog multimeters, time delay reflectometer, meg-ohm meter and data bus analyzer.
● Demonstrate the ability to inspect aircraft wiring, coax, connector plugs, switches and
protective devices.
