1. GENERAL

1.1 Scope

1.1.1 This Technical Standard shows typical fabrication details of steel floor grating for use in structures. These
details are intended to be issued to fabricators supplying this flooring, and to the field for use in installation.

1.1.2 The floor grating is open type 1 in. deep x 3/16 in. (25 mm x 5 mm) thick bearing bars spaced at 1 3/16 in.
(30 mm) and with non-skid cross bars at 4 in. (100 mm) pressure welded in rectangular pattern.

2. DESIGN

2.1 General

The project design drawings and data sheets specify the arrangement of structural members supporting the
floor grating, special fabrication details, and any changes to the requirements of this standard.

NOTES:

1. Floor grating shall be attached to support members with saddle type clips, two clips on each terminal end of
the panel, 6 inches (150 mm) from either side, and one clip at the center of the panel at each intermediate
support. Clips shall be secured to support member with 1/4 inch (6 mm) self tapping screws installed by the
field.

2. Floor grating shall be continuous over intermediate supports. A shop installed angle shall be provided for
grating splices at channel support.

3. Flooring cut-outs of 8 inches (200 mm) and greater in diameter for piping and other penetrations shall be
shop protected and reinforced with a toe plate welded to floor grating as shown in Detail 1.

4. Flooring cut-outs around columns shall be shop protected and reinforced with a toe plate welded to floor
grating similar to Detail 1 and shall have 1 inch (25 mm) clearance from the column, fireproofing and/or
column connections.

5. Unless otherwise noted on the design drawings, flooring cut-outs of less than 8 inches (200 mm) in
diameter for piping and other penetrations shall be by the field.
