Abstract
This study was conducted to teach communication skill of students' internship at Jakarta
History Museum. Most of the students found it difficult to speak even though they mastered
many vocabularies and they were able to write correctly. Their difficulty occured because they
were afraid of making mistakes.They were too shy to speak in the Public. Besides, the
internship students need to speak english if they want communicate with foreign at the
Museum. In this study, the researcher used technical guidance to teach how to improve
speaking skills for communication at Jakarta History Museum. Guiding technique is effective
to manage the speaking abillity. The procedures of this method conducted based on learning
about Introduction, tells about History of Museum, tells the Collections of Museum, and This
study consists of 2 cycles; each cycle consists of three meetings. The procedures of this
research is planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data gathered by using observation,
field note, photo, video recording. The development of students' speaking skill can be seen
from the average of pre-test and final test score. It can be concluded that Teaching English
Communication through Guiding can develop students' speaking skill.

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1. BACKGROUND

Language is a means of communication. This belief leads the English teachers to teach the
students how to communicate in English. Therefore, the materials, the methods, the
techniques, the activties of the learning should encourage and support the students to use
English as a means of communication. CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) approach
provides various communicative activities in English language teaching. In reality, however,
the activities of learning are the traditional models, such as reading aloud the
dialogues/monologues from a written transcript, reciting texts, or doing some written
exercises.

English is a global language. Therefore, it has been taught in some levels of education in
Indonesia, such as elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school/vocational
school. in order to make young generations ready to face the globalization era. As a global
language, English is used in many things we find in our daily life such as for Trading sector,
Tourism sector, social media/networks, transportation, banking, even used in many labels of
typical substance or materials, such as, foods and beverage, chemicals, medicine, cosmetics,
etc. One of big impact of English as a global language is the Tourism sector, Speaking is the
skill that the learners will be judged upon most in real-life situation. It is an important part of
everyday interaction and most often the first impression of a person is based on his/her ability
to speak fluently.
Based on the things mentioned above, the researcher tried to make speaking activities more
effective for internship students in learning English by determining the techniques which are
appropriate and effective to teach speaking.

The Objective of this analysis are :

The significance of study from this research are :
1. Theoritical benefit
a. The result can be used as the reference for those who want to conduct a research in
Teaching English at a tourism sector.
b. The study can give a broarder point of view for Trainer in teaching English Communication
skills to Internship students

a. The study can help the students’ to find the easy way of communicate in English.
